Default How much did I rob myself?

Please help me out by telling me what you think.

January dyno = 360 RWHP stock heads TR220/220 cam ... nice day and a little cool.

October dyno = 400 RWHP ... nice day a little warmer than the dyno above. Newly forged motor with Mahle power pak, new AFR 205's, AFR 224/288 +1 cam. Mezziere Electric water pump, U/D pulley, 30# SVO injector's.

At first I thought a 40 RWHP gain was not very good with the new AFR heads/cam, pump, and U/D pulley. Then I realized, I (1) had Random Tech 10 1/2" bullet cats welded into the ORY; (2) the most restrictive plate in the Borla exhaust; (3) and the weather was probably 15* warmer since the last dyno in January.

How much RWHP do you think these three things above robbed me ... plus I already had a TR 220/220 cam? I know the H/C etc. probably realistically gave me 55-60 RWHP.

I suspect a "green" motor that is still on the tight side. Unless it was machined/honed with torque plates, you probably will pick up some nice hp and tq after about 5000 miles. The heads should have been worth 30-35 rwhp alone. The cam should be worth a minimum of 10 rwhp. The Meziere is worth 5-6 rwhp and the UD pulley is worth 5-7 rwhp. Your gains should really be around 50-58 rwhp. Change in weather and a tight motor are most likely the culprits.

Man, I hope you're right. I test-drove it for about a mile and it feels a LOT stronger. I agree on the numbers for the parts you mentioned. That's why I think the cats, the restrictive Borla plate, and the weather hurt my numbers. Maybe I can get some good E/T slips ... that will tell all. Hopefully, I can break mid-11's and 120+ mph on steet tires.

Cats shouldn'nt be costing you too much power. When I dropped my catted y-pipe and went with open headers and extensions (no cats), I only picked up 6 rwhp. I think the cats were only costing me 4 rwhp.

Yeah, Patrick, I was told the cats would only cost me 4-6 RWHP ... Random Tech 10 1/2" bullet cats. So, what you're saying just backs that up.
