Default How much stall?

I'm looking at getting a stall converter for my ws6. Problem is I can't make up my mind on how much stall I want. I'm think somewhere between 3500-4000 stall. I'm leaning towards 4000 stall.

I don't drive this car every day, but want it to be somewhat streetable. The car will get a 408 soon and should be putting close to 500 rwhp.

Any opinions on how much stall I should go with?

Thanks

Need more info: Cam specs, rear gears, peak hp rpm, peak torque rpm, and trans type.

This setup isn't together yet. The cam isn't even been ground. But here is what I have so far:

Trans: TH400
Cam specs: 244/248 .640 lift
Gears: 3.73

Don't know where the peak hp or tq is since the engine isn't even built yet (waiting on heads).

Seems like the torque on alot of the other 408's I've seen here peaks around 4250 rpm.

You'll need 4000 stall minimum. Without a lock-up clutch, your converter can be made pretty light.

Hey thanks man.

I don't know why I posted this in the dyno section. Must have been before I had my coffee

But thanks for the info anyway...

Going by the 408's we've built with specs like yours I'd go with a 3200-3400 stall. The 408's have excellent torque in the midrange.I'm thinking 4000 would be too loose.

I just ordered my 'verter through Fuddle.

I split the difference and went with a 3600.

I decided at the last minute that I wanted alittle more streetability

Thanks!!
