i guess im just a cheap ***, im debating if i should get a tune after my full exhaust, or if i should wait untill i do something larger before i get a tune.
and livernois e-mailed me back, they want 525 for a custom dyno tune.
they are about 8 minutes from my house like unit said, and they are cheaper and a lot closer than w2w, so we will see.

aparently i misunderstood the people being quoted 500-600 had driveability included, sorry.i paid 1000 + for an intake/tb because that is pretty much the only option,it is not like i could make my own,btw how does a thread about dyno tuning costs compare to what you pay for an intake

I paid $250 for a street/dyno tune and was very happy with the results! My tuner knew what he was doing and had it nailed in 1- 1 1/2 hrs. The car makes 422hp/399tq with stock heads, SLP headers, normal crap, and a .579 lift cam. AFR was 13.0 while driving with Tech 2 monitoring it.

Quote, "I would be willing to pay $1500 if I was for sure getting my cars tuned to the best of their abilitys"
There is not much of a market for such tunes so tuners with such abilities have had to figure out a way to do it for much less.

Here in CT we charge $400.00 we used to charge $550.00 . And we do adjustments(i.e. you add more mods in the future) for FREE if it does not require dyno time, and if it does require going back on the dyno it is usually $125.00 (dyno time)

I had my tune done about 3 years ago at CARTEK here in NJ, just looked up my old bill it was $550.00 for the tune AND $45.00 for the install of the 02 bung for the wideband. That's $595.00 !!

Well me coming from the Rotary side, when a slight knock can cause you to spend $4K+ on a rebuild, a good tuner is worth way more than $500, and usually you pay $300-$500 to fly one of them out for a day (Per Person) and then add dyno time.. @ $70-150 / hour...
The difference is usually night and day, 30+ hp can easily be gained with a good tune / vs a bad one on a rotary.
What I wanted to know is typically how crazy is tuning an LS1 (Yes I'm converting as we speak) and how complicated is it compared to other "Boosted / supercharged applications" since we're talking like Cam, Headders, and possibly a new head by next summer...
I obviously don't have to worry about split timing, staged injection etc... but other than making it run like hell (poorly) can you actually blow the motor by messing with things too much ?? Or is the ECU smart enough that it will listen to the knock sensor and retard timing if you advanced it too much ??
