ported throttle body dyno results...
Today I took a trip to New Era Performance to have my throttle-body ported... just so happened that their morning Dyno-Tune was a "no-show" so we decided it would be a perfect opportunity to Dyno test Mike's porting techniques on a LS1 TB.
Hypothesis: Will Mike's TB porting increase HP/Torque?
Test: Two Dyno pulls; (1st) baseline and (2nd) treatment (porting).
Test vehicle: 2000 Z28, A4, cam and bolt-ons, Yank 3600
Control: No Tuning, Same Hg-in, humidity and engine operating temp.
Results: 11.5 HP & 8 TQ
Discussion: Cheapest/Best HP & TQ Mod to date ($75)!!!
Thanks again Mike!

After that run (2nd) we did the same test with a SLP under-drive pulley which was a gain 6/4 HP/TQ.
After 3 runs (baseline, porting, pulley) and NO tuning = 391/350 unlocked!
Car looks and sounds (almost) stock.
ibanez7: bumpstop mod = yes

I have to admit that we were all pleased and surprised with the results. Mike said that it was the first TRUE test of Dyno'ng just the Ported TB. I'm sure he'll be able to do a lot more tests with different set-ups now that he has his own Dyno.

BTW - My cam is considered VERY VERY small by TTP standards

A better test would have been to make like 3 pulls with the stock TB, and then make some pulls with the ported TB. In my dyno experience, with no changes, my car has always made less power on the first pull then it has on subsequent pulls.

Neat stuff. I'm getting a TB ported next week. Put down 365/355 @ 12.6:1 on the dyno a month ago. Going to run a better tune and bump the AFR as well as run the new TB and we'll see what happens!
