Thumbs up Results from xfactor_pitbull ported heads on my 408

Specs on the setup:

HPE 408
xfactor_pitbull stage 3 ported heads with 2.08/1.60 ferrea valves
-flow 322 intake at .600 and 219 exhaust (w/o a pipe)-
LS6 intake/ported TB
1 7/8 stepped Edelbrock LT's
Edelbrock ORY with dynatech cats
SLP LM1
Lid
Granatelli 85mm MAF (came with the car, too lazy to replace it)
M6 with stock 3.42's
blah blah blah... on with the important stuff...

I finally got the thing tuned/dyno'ed and I'm pretty damn happy with the results! 474/440... on a mustang dyno... through CATS (that's an easy 20hp right there) Brandon does some badass heads The graph is here as compared to the previous Dynojet graph (dynojet) with the stock 317's. You can see where it's pulling timing from 3k to 4500 for whatever reason so the tq curve isn't super. We were getting 3-4* KR and tried race gas with no difference. It actually made higher numbers on 93 pump gas and we finally got it down to 1-2* KR but couldn't do much from there. I'm guessing it's the knock sensors which have been transferred from the stock 346 when it took a **** to a 370 which took a **** to this 408, so I think it may be due time for them. Anyway, I've only got room to go up and the 90/90 should be coming by the fall. Enjoy!

P.S. - Possible reasons for the damn KR would be great.

Decent numbers, I agree it could be the knock sensor's going bad or a little something in your tune. I was having a similar issue with my 383 with 3-4* KR but when I was able to get it fine tuned, the KR went away.

Dump the cats, fix the knock sensors, and get a ported 90/90 setup....You'll be over 500 rwhp on a mustang dyno no problem. Thats some major power for a street car. Oh and you better be saving up for the 9" as the 10 bolt wont like any decent tires on it. Did you decide on tires yet? GSD3's seem to be on backorder everywhere.

I can't even decide on some damn wheels yet, let alone tires I thought I wanted 18" z06 motorsports but that's pretty much a no-go with this kinda power. I guess I'll just be saving up for a 12 bolt and wheels at the same time. That way I can have the rear custom made to put some serious dish wheels on the rear.

Very good power. Nice looking curve. What cam are you running?

Jon, glad everything seems to have worked out for you. That is some great power for a mustang dyno, with cats and full exhaust. Cant wait to see what happens when you get everything sorted out. Keep in touch.

Custom Futral cam from way back in the day. 244/248 .635/.627 112. It's a pretty lazy cam though with the specs at .006" being 304/306. It's certainly not setup specifically for this engine but it will do in the meantime.

Nice #'s, but to me that would seem kinda low for a 408. My cam only motor (364ci) puts down 450rwhp 407rwtq.

450/407 on a MUSTANG dyno? I assume those numbers are dynojet. Also, you're running an ORY and I've got cats. A cutout would net an easy 20hp, putting me near 500rwhp on a mustang dyno which is better for tuning but reads much lower than a dynojet.

I'm pretty happy with my results considering the restrictive cats, LS6 setup, and the couple degrees of KR I'm getting through the meat of the powerband.

Arctic, you know i have been following your updates with our set ups being so similar. congrats on the numbers. Im in the same boat as you with the intake, rear end and wheels for the street. plus my cars an A4, so id be happy with 450 to start with. :d congrats on the numbers, and keep us updated as you get the intake and ORY.

Yes my #'s are on a dynojet. I am actually running full bolt-on's. I don't have any ory. I have TD's. How much lower does a mustang dyno read than a dynojet?

thats true that there are some small cube motors out there making similar PEAK numbers as this, but take a look at the torque "curve" on his dyno graph...then lay yours on top of it and tell me what you think the differance is.

I wish I could hit some more buttons but Ive had everything from 28 deg to 15 deg of timing at that point, with and without racegas Did it 98% of the time out of 30 pulls

The knock is from the MAF. Get rid of it and use a stock MAF with a screen, then watch the car idle better, make more power, and drive way smoother - with a good tune of course

While I prefere a stock maf over his granesmelly... ive never seen that caused from a working MAF in the hundreds of cars Ive tuned.

Yea, with a 6.0 motor. That's no tough feat as people are doing it all over the place.

The #'s look good. Delete the KR sensors and have fun with the car
