It seems like H/C cars never really gain much of anything when going to 1 and 7/8's, but H/C and nitrous cars seem to gain a lot.

Is there any truth to this or am I imagining that I have seen this?

I only gained 5 hp on my h/c car from Macs to Edelbrock stepped race headers. They have the merge collector as well and have not gone any faster with the Edelbrocks. Maybe my next motor will like the stepped header. They do sound better tehn the macs though by far.
I also do run quicker through the muffler since the Edelbrocks. They seem to make more power since they are free flowing up to the muffler.
