If you're looking to replace ur G5X3 with the MTI Y1, then you'll be very disappointed because IMO the MTI cam line is ancient compared to what is offered today(power/torque/power under the curve). If I was you, I'd step up to the G5X4 or the G5XX. Call LG motorsports and see what they have to say.

While I appreciate your input, I don't feel MTI is "behind the times " on R&D! The Y1 cam and the g5x3 came out about the same time!

Well, If you're so set on the Y1, I'm curious as to why you would want to step down from a 234/242(G5x3) to a 234/240 ? What LSA did you have your G5X3 ordered on ?

Hey Bill, yes I am!! I'll call you!

I have run two G5X3 112 cams in my new set-up and had lifter failures both times. I AM NOT SAYING IT IS THE CAMS FAULT!! The first time it was my stock 82k lifters. Second time it was new comp replacements. It may be from some instability in my valvetrain. But even LGs shop told me people are having some failures on stock lifters , and not as many on comp Rs. I absolutely loved the G5X3!! Awesome on the street and track and sounds nasty as hell!! Im just a little paranoid at this point. The one problem that MAY be in my valvetrain is that I re-used my 42k double springs. I used these springs with a C1 cam for 42 k and probably should have replaced them on the new combo. Maybe after all those miles and heat soakings those springs are not up to the task of the G5X3? So Im replacing the springs and replacing the lifter that failed . I'm just afraid to drop another G5X3 in there! Any opinions??When you try to save a buck, it costs you in the long run!!!

I definately hear ya man! Have you replaced the lifter tray's as well? They're only like $12 bucks a peice. That could be a big problem as well, combined with the weak springs. In all honesty, if you're going through the trouble of putting in another cam, I'd stick a G5X4 in there. Do you have gears?

I had the Y1 with the old MTI S2 heads and fast 90 combo. Pulled 441rwhp and like 407trq with A4, stall and 12-bolt. Ran 10.90`s with 100 shot TNT. I loved it and the sound was badass! Had to flycut though! Good Luck!

I really liked it all the way threw. I had alittle problems with the tuning. I had a GMAF and it didn`t like the set-up. I got a LS6 MAF and lined it out. Great cam all the way threw. I did have a X1 before. Loved the X1, but the Y1 ROCKED.

The X4 will not act any differnt on the street than the X3 as long as your turner knows his stuff. The X4 is just nasty and you will make power everywhere over the X3. With 4.11's the X4 just hurts, my first 3 gears are violent.

Specs are unknown other than it comes on a 111 lsa. It's a tad larger than an X3(234/242) so probably around a 238/244
