Default Dyno with bolt ons 98 Z28

98 Z28 M6 w/75k miles
I had a bolt ons tune done at TTP in NJ.
Mods were as follows:
Kooks LT's with cats
SLP Loud Mouth
MTI Lid
Pulley

The car has a hypertech tune on it before, put down 335 before and 345RWHP after. No detonation and clean a/f which was no goal. They did a good job and I am happy with the numbers, now time for a cam

Are these numbers low, average, or high for my year and mods?

Don: I have the SAE graph here. You know as well as I do during our fall/winter time the SAE numbers are horrible. I dont 100% believe in the SAE numbers since it is a formula calculating what your car "should" make in those conditions. The uncorrected numbers are the true to life numbers that the car is making. Of course you post the UNC numbers on this forum and the pirahnas come out to bite your *** . I believe the SAE correction was 96%.

Not talking **** or picking a fight but when the majority go by SAE and use it to compare, you might get a request or two when the correction factor isn't used.

My 98 made 333/345 with the mods in my sig, but on the stock clutch(I imagine the non-slipping SPEC 3 and a way lighter flywheel picked me up a few at the wheels), would be interesting to compare it to the SAE numbers of this car.

There is no difference between the 98-00, 98's being inferior is a myth.

Wrong, the computers on the 98 are different.

arent the injectors bigger on the 98's too?

The 98's have different heads too.

I don't think they are disadvantaged in anyway. I did a 98 cam only (ms3) that put down 418 SAE before a 9inch.

on top of that my 98 vette dynoed 325 SAE with a tune, catback, and vararam which doesn't help being stationary at all.

98 heads are the worst. If you take them off and put stock 00 heads on you'll gain hp/tq.

At 345 hp and 354 tq, I'd say your results are amazing. I am still trying to figure out what I am doing wrong with my car. Mods are K&N cold air intake, JBA headers with high-flow catted midpipes, JBA 9MM ignition wires, GHL catback exhaust and dyno tune. The car is an 05 GTO automatic.

The tuner was embrassed by the results and I was shocked. Maybe I have a heat problem since the tuner said he could only advance the timing by 1 degree because of detonation. At 331 HP and 323 TQ, I am at a loss for words.

I think I will get another tune at a different shop. What else can I do?

WHAT??? That is the reason we use a "standard" system for comparison is to control as many variables as possible vs. changes made to the platform... Otherwise you cannot truly isolate the differences between hardware changes or environmental impact...

I use SAE as a tuning tool. It's about the average weather up here anyways. Uncorrected number vary way to much to use for tuning on different days My car put down 480+ uncorrected I cant go by that though because if it's 90 out it probably makes 430.

But anyway nice numbers out of a 98 im sure your enjoying them.
