yeah, I have a H/C 375 in my Firebird and it did 470/430 through a M6, steel DS, 12-bolt, & 4.10's. Its an N2O motor and not optimally configured right now for NA stuff.
So if he had a real well matched aggressive HR/pump gas combo, I could see 480+ or so through an auto and that driveline if it was REALLY poppin' off. JMO

Does not seem realistic to me either. The relatively low compression and pump gas combined with the heavy duty drivetrain do not add up to me. The only way I see this even remotely possible is if it is an EXTREME hydraulic setup. For me to even begin to believe it, I would think the motor is turning up around 7700 rpm's. This is pretty high for a hydraulic setup of any sort, although not unheard of...

I think it looks a little funny that it peaks horsepower at the same time it peaks torque. I call BS until someone proves me otherwise!!!!
My horsepower on the dyno peaked around 6800 rpms and that was between 150 to 157 mph, I cant remember exactly, but that was in 4th gear with a 3.23 gear. Either your friend has a 5._ _ gear, or is dynoing in 2nd gear on a dyno set up for 4th gear.

Well, it has no nitrous on it, unless like stated above he somehow got it uninstalled off the car it was on & reinstalled it on this new car. He is a local guy & this is his new set-up after hitting the wall last season & selling his 408 set-up. Which also broke 500 RWHP. So far both his cars have had sick HP/TQ curves.
