So Christian how about an update on the new motor ??

Is she done. I want to see how much you killed my little 402 by. Keep in mind 511/500 to the wheels aren't my final numbers. LOL. Still got a couple things to try whenever the shop has time. Tons of customers and add in the need to get the ALMS car ready. Louis and the boys are busy. Best of Luck Uncle C !!! Hope you do something sick like 550 rwhp 510 rwtq !!!!

Hi Doug,

Engine is going to be started this week if no additional problems...and for sure will let you know the results.

I am following since the beginning the progress of you car, and you are going to have an amazing daily drive here, wise strong combo that you have.
You average power band is going to be a blast to drive, may be more than what you are expecting.
You are going to have a lot to say after your first ride!!!

I can't wait to hear what your motor does bro. If your 346 was any indication of how much attention you pay to detail to make power, then this new motor should be sick.

I totally agree with you on the AVG power for my 402. Hopefully its not more then I can handle. I do realize I am going to have re learn to drive the car. No need to rev out to 6700+ rpms anymore, 6000 should be more then enough.

Best of luck on your new motor, can't wait.

wow, youve heard it way to much but nice numbers man. i`ve been looking at cam specs and what i should go with and yours seems very similar to what ive been looking at.
Yours sounds very nice with not much lope at all, and thats with a 111 LSA. Now from all the research ive done, from my set up im looking at ( custom comp cam, 235/240, .643/.609 with a 114LSA)
can i be expecting numbers pretty similar like yours and with the cam dd ability and stockish sound. I ask this cause i see cams smaller and with a higher LSA(112-113-114) then you and sound very choppy. i know some has to do with tune but you seem like a guy who knows whats what???
thanks

and thumbs up again

I forgot about this thread, this is sutch a great cam thats really under the radar for years now. I think Christian made is the most power on a little 346 LS1 with it?
I loved this cam, most I made was 466whp with 241 heads I hand ported with the stock valves, and valve job.

And on my stock untoched heads put down 425whp/393wtq a few weeks ago this year. I ran 10.6s @ 128.x a few times end of last year when I was only putting down the 415/380 numbers, my car dosn't make any big dyno numbers, with the race drivetrain parts. It makes peak power no much over 6K too.
http://i2.photobucket.com/albums/y11...n/IMG_4321.jpg

This cam drives really good too, alot better then some other bigger cams that drive a LOT worse. The street sweeper is not is small cam, but with a tune runs really good what what it dose at the track, and power numbers. I have a light car/ with gears and everything. So I didn't know what some guys talking about, the surging and bucking with other big cams. Untill I put some bigger coomon cams in my car looking for more power. Really a race cam, you have to drive a lot diffrent. Some dosn't make that much more power, if any. I wouldn't run in my car that I drive around on the street all the time, but people get them becuse the sound "bad ***" is a idle video and live with how shitty it drives around. I feel like a dick now for making fun of people on here that post about that, but I didnt know how bad they run. I didn't know what bucking and surging really were, Then I had 3:73 gears with the ramHD and 28 tall tires with people in the car. When it was full weight a few years ago, I'd get clutch chatter. I thought that was what people were talking about. But this cam dosn't really do it even. Its back in my car right now, and I can use 5th and 6th gear around town at 40-45mph. And drive around just like in the vids under 2K keeping the car really quite, leaving a light.
sorry to go off on the rant, withing getting to much into the bigger cams I have ran. (PM me about it and I won't resond, I'll post stuff up later) Just wanted to update this It ran some really good times at the track for me

The sweet spot of a 346 engine with a long runner composite style intake is right around that 46-48 degree intake valve closing point. There is no denying this. There is such thing as diminishing return.

Yup stange s60. mods in my sig.

Ya its not stock quite. Its sounds louder in the vid, it picks it up more I think. It smooths out at hwyway speeds, ther some be some other vids of some street action out there in car. At the 35-50 is hamms around in the "backlash" for sure. I put the 4:30s in myself as my 1st gear install. I used the pinion spacer that was on the 3:73 I got form strange. Thouse were quite too till I started reaicn on slicks. But when I put the spool in I cheacked the lash and the pinon is out a little to far. I will fix that when I get a new bearing kit, and chenag gears. But its been fine and it dosnt bother me really.
Its a t56 car with all rod end suspention. The car dose wheelies that I drive to and from the track. You can set up the gears peferfect and there quite, but after launch a few times from 6600 your going to get some gear wine. I didn't have my hatch carpet in or rear trim in either. And my exhust is pretty quite so I noticed you hear more then other cars with the same setups. . Speedinc carpet, no padding and a lot of other things removed. Drives really good for one of the faster 6speed cam only setups. I can cruise around town like that, and its trapped 128+ many times. I drive it to the LSX shootout too

I have to say, this is true for a car that swings around its operating range a lot (like when cruising around town).

But one thing where peak HP is king is the street race at highway speeds. You'll be operating around peak HP the whole time, so you want to maximize it. If you want to win street races (or the Texas Mile) you go full-bore, biggest turbo (or centrifugal SC) you can get, and the torque curve will have a peak the height of Everest. And below that peak, it would drive like a Civic.

But if you want to roast tires from 1500 to 6000 rpm, you get a Roots SC to maximize area under the torque curve or choose a cam that does the same. This would be my goal, but I don't want to sacrifice peak HP to get it.
