Default 408... Should I be disappointed?

Well I got my car re-tuned a couple of weeks ago. This is through full exhaust, stock 241 heads, LS6 intake, and a 9'' w/ 3.89s. I made 432 rwhp and 431 lb. ft. of torque.

When I bought the car, the previous owner gave me sheets where he made 466/466. However, his sheets were not SAE corrected.

There are no problems with the motor for sure, new valve springs, plugs, and wires. Did a compression test and a leakdown, everything showed fine. I recently ran a 12.2 @ 119 on street tires as well. What do you guys think about all this? Should I be happy with it for the time being? I know when I throw a set of heads and an intake on it, it should make a huge jump, hopefully over the 500 mark. Let me know what ya'll think. If you need any other info, lmk. I'll scan the dyno sheet later on today.

Thanks,
Alex

1 7/8 lt's would help the guy you bought it from might have kept the heads but if you can afford a 408 you should get some ported #243's and what cam are you running?

You deinately need to upgrade the heads so some afr or tfs 225's and ditch the ls6 for a fast 90/90 setup. it would put you way closer to 500rwhp. And hopefully you dont have cats on the car either. Not sure if you meant it had cats when you said "full exhaust".

How much cam? and how much compression? Is the throttle body opening all the way?

Cam is a Comp XE-R 244/248, 612/615 on a 115 lsa. 10.96:1 comp. ratio. T/b is opening all the way.

The car has no cats. I know the car needs heads, intake, and probably some 1 7/8'' headers to make the big number, but for what I have right now, do those numbers seem ok?

Its awful hard to know. Not many 400+ motors running around with stock 241s. and an ls6 intake to boot. The 466 seems more like it should be. do you know if that was thru the 9"? Thats gonna suck up around 15 hp.

Those numbers aren't that bad for all of the restrictive stuff you have, plus the rear. When I had stock 317's, TB, and LS6 intake through my stock rear I made 445/425 on a mustang dyno, but that was with 1 7/8 LT's, whereas you have 1 3/4's. Low 12's on street tires is good for your mods. You got the mph, now open up your intake track and get your 60's down.

Trapping 119 w/ stock heads and ls6 intake is damn good in my book. Better heads, FAST 90/90, and kooks headers will all help. Sounds like your not hooking that well. Whats the 60'?

This was on a dynojet.

60' was 2.079.

Smok'nZ, I believe the other car you were talking about that made 467, is mine. I bought it from a moderator on here about a year ago.

And yes Brian, defintely time for some Trickflows and a Fast 90.

hell i think 119 mph trap speed is awesome especially for stock heads and ls6 intake. just put a 200 shot on it and be done for awhile

that car is nothing to be ashamed of

The 466 was with a 10 bolt and 3:42 gears. Is it still SD tuned? Why did you have it retuned? Its WAS tuned by one of the best.

It drove like **** and when I had it dynoed with that tune it only made 416 rwhp.

I never knew the 466 was with the 10 bolt. I wish I would've known that a loooong time ago. Also the car has a twin disc clutch now and is without an U/D pulley which it had then (had belt eating problems and it had to go).

The numbers sound about right to me. Think about it... 466 subtract say 20 for the 9" = 446 then subtract about 10 for the UD pulley, you now have 436. Thats rough guessing though. I wouldn't mind having that setup! The fact that it has stock heads, regardless of the other bolt ons, means there is a lot of potential for that motor.
