Just because you could bury the speedo does not mean you did not have a speed limiter. My SS speedo only goes to 155 but the speed limiter was set at 160 (stock) which would bury my speedo (in overdrive A4). What does your 97 speedo go up to?

On topic...I don't think those numbers are bad for your car in 2nd gear on a mustang dyno...As said, you need a tune (possibly change speed limiter), new fuel filter, air filter, maybe fuel injectors. I know when my A4 was stock in 3rd gear it pulled 311/320 with around 10.2:1 AirFuel Ratio so you are lean and a tune should fix that unless it is mechanical...ie fuel pump, filter or injectors. My $0.02

3rd gear, locked TCC. Only way to get accurate #s with an auto.
Clean your MAF. With electrical cleaner spray. 10 to 1 odds thats your lean condition cure.

Everyone make sure, chime in and tell him your mods, what you dynoed, your tranny type etc.....

Yea, that doesnt help the guy.

OP, the car will show lower numbers during a 2nd gear pull as opposed to a 3rd(1:1) gear pull. Mustang dynos are loaded dynos and are usually pretty stingy. You have a bone stock AUTO 99 with 93k miles and is in serious need of a tune up/dyno tune. THEN start from there.

The MAF is not used during WOT (so I have been told), so it would not cause a lean condition on the dyno.

You were told wrong.

I have seen 2 things cause 14.x:1 A/F at WOT on cars with stock tunes.

1. Bad MAF, with NO MAF codes set.
2. Bad fuel pumps. Would read 58 psi at idle and drop to the 40s or 30s at higher RPMs.

Sounds like you havent operated many dyno's. Alot of times we cant do a 1 to 1 ratio gear pull because of the speed limiters. In that case as long as i baseline in a lower gear, they mod and we retest in the same gear.... no problem here.

Did a 2007 Charger today for the local Dodge dealer and i had to run that in third, which is 1:41 ratio because of the speed limiter.

sounds like the dyno operator is a dumbass

1) tune up
2) get a fuel pressure guage on that pig and see if your pressure is dropping off up top. pump could be tired, or voltage wire could be failing.
3) run in it 3rd
4) mustang dyno's are going to read "lower" when actually they are more accurate, and dynojets give inflated numbers, which is why people like them.
5) post your graph, if it gets real spikey at the end, you could have some valve float on tired stock springs.
6) clean the maf

edit: well, I guess most of this stuff was already mentioned! I skimmed over the responses..
