^ no doubt! I would start saving for a rear end, which I'm sure you know is going to be needed. Maybe take a trip to vegas and try to double or triple your money....lol
I'm sure it's going to be hard not to go ***** out knowing you can kill your tranny. I wish I could buy all that stuff at once

wow! well its been a year guys. I cant beleive this thread even popped up! the car is finally done. the engine project turned into a full-car project. The motor is now a fully built forged 347 balanced to within half a gram. the compression is at 11:1.
I've had a few people ask me about the driving manners and experience of the VRX5 camshaft, so I thought it was time to post a driving report. Ill have a video or two to boot if I can figure out how to host it on photobucket or something.
first, two things I should bring up-
I've been working with Slowhawk to get the tune nailed down- and I'm running the stock catback exhaust. I'm hearing anything from a 20-40 HP gain from junking it- I grin like a fool when I realize that there could be another 25% left in this motor that I haven't felt yet. with this motor, and the stock exhaust, id guess that would put me somewhere around the 420-440 rwhp mark at this point, but that's all a guess. this is me assuming ill be between 460-475 RWHP with the complete vengeance package- my only difference is that I went with the VRX5 cam instead of the vindicator for the near 500rwhp cars.
Street manners
the car runs fantastic. I am entirely happy with how the street manners of the car turned out. I wanted a fast street car first, and a track car second, and it does that. I can cruise around all day long below 3 grand and you'd swear it was a stock car. doesnt buck, or jump- drives on the highway at 1900 rpms doing 80 no problem. it has a very, very light surging at ~1800 rpm doing 30 downtown, but I think that can be tuned out yet. the more we tune and tweak it, and the more I drive it, it becomes more responsive and I like that. I still have enough power at ~2k that I dont ever have to downshift when I cruise on the highway- it'll still pull pretty decently sized hills in sixth gear.
everything else
if you floor the car at two grand, itll start moving out at a rate probably comparable or a little slower than a stock car. once you hit right around 3 grand, the entire car changes its attitude. the exhaust note gets a little more bark to it, the engine entirely changes pitch, and you get the beginnings of an idea of how fast the car really is. its oddly decieving, especially with the stock exhaust... until you break the 3k rpm mark, people can't tell its anything but a car with a cam and an exhaust. from 3 grand up, the power is explosive. I can't even imagine what the vindicator cam would feel like. from 3k-6.5k rpms, it just continues to pull harder and harder. you really get the feeling of getting sucked into the seat. I am surprised at how wide the torque band is in this car for a small block 350. i'd be really curious to dyno it so that I can see the torque lines on it.
I have a set of 295 kumho's on the rear of the car. I still have the stock 3.42 gears in the rearend, and if I am rolling down the street at 30, I can melt those tires into the ground just by rolling into the throttle a little too hard. I think 3.73's at this point are no better since I can't even keep the tires hooked up as it sits now. I need bigger tires
