Default GM CNC L92 Head Results!

Ok, we did a back to back swap on the engine dyno. The engine is our L92 427. We were running an L76 intake, box stock. The only change made between graphs was the heads themselves! We not only put the HP and FtLbs figures, but highlighted the difference between the runs in yellow for easier reference.

gained 27HP and 27TQ!?? Shaaaweeet!

What bore is the motor? and I assume the heads still have stock valves?

It was a 4.068" bore, 4.1" stroke. And yes, this was a stock valve!

Any hint of what they did below 4500 rpm? I know everyone is going to say that they never spend anytime at all below 4500 rpm because during drag racing it never goes below that, but I was just curious what they did at lower rpms.

Great gains. Was the combustion any smaller on the CNC heads (yielding a higher static compression)?

does your CNC program unshroud the valves at all? Also... that bore is considered pretty small. Standard 408 bore is 4.030 and standard 414 bore is 4.060 with a 4 inch crank stroke.

Makes it all the more impressive if the bowl was untouched near the valve. BTW, does your CNC program work more on the intake or the exhaust? Is this considered your top program or do you have a more intensive one?

We do not CNC these heads here...all of that is contracted by GM. It does not appear that much if any change has been made to the combustion chamber. This CNC head focuses more on the intake port than the exhaust for sure!

I'm not sure which 427 these tests were done on.

Opening an intake runner usually has the effect of improving top end power especially with a big cam.. What it did to the bottom end with a 279cc runner is the real question. Can you post the lower numbers?

I agree Spin. The intake runner will hamper the driveability of the smaller cube stuff big time.

not a good choice for a street car looking for low rpm torque... yet with a nice NA converter for the strip.. or nitrous converter this should make some serious mph power for the track. who doesnt want a 4500 stall at the track?
