step by step results on modding 08 z06 Big thanks to my friends Nick, Josh, and David at Newtech performance in Hayward. I broke in my new z06 (950 miles) and was ready to baseline it. First stock pull we made 450 hp and 421 ft lbs. He played with it in the tuning and made 465 hp and 428 ft lbs(can't remember tq exactly, it was a long day). We then put on the Vararam intake and MAF housing. We didn't expect to see much because it shows usually at the track but the car made 472hp an d 431 ft lbs. We then put on the ported intake manifold, ported tb and throttle body spacer. The car made 485 hp and 445 ft lbs. The last test we put on the corsa exhaust and nick fine tuned the computer. We worked on it after each pull. The car all said and done made 486 rwhp and 452 ft lbs. We did make slightly higher tq at one point but left the tune so that it wasn't to aggressive. The car drives awesome and basically has nothing substantial done to it. All numbers were on heat soaked pulls and are corrected. We made a total of 23 pulls and was all done in the matter of a few hours. I figured I would post the results for some others who are interested in modding their cars.
The vararam showed a gain on the dyno even without the vehicle moving because you got rid of the stock filter. I have found it to be a very restrictive piece. In fact I had a cammed 06 Z that made an additional 17rwhp by pulling the filter out! We cut the filter in half (K&N FIPK was on the way) and it split the difference at abotu 8 rwhp.

The tb spacer came with the vararam kit. I wouldn't normally have bought it separately but why not use it if it is there. I am considering headers but the mods were selected to keep the car relatively stock appearing especially when going to the dealer. I am really trying to hold back. I went nuts with my other car and don't want to do the same here. My girlfriend is also a co-owner and drives the car so I am trying to keep it simple.
