Had the ss dynotested. Confused!!!

Default Had the ss dynotested. Confused!!!

Had my 02 SS tested yesterday on a mustang dyno and it showed 270rwhp and 346rwtq. I was also told that the motor is putting out 380hp. The car is bone stock. The guy at the shop was really surprised at the crank #'s but said the rwhp was at a normal level. I am confused at some of the numbers on here as well as my last dyno of a 98Z with only borla. My last dyno stated 317rwhp 358rwtq on the 98Z. does anyone have any ideas? Thanks Jeff

Was it a Mustang dyno?

mustangs tend to read lower but making 380 crank hp bone stock i find hard to believe. M6 or A4?

Its automatic. Yes it was a mustang dyno. The guy at the shop did some calculation and told me the 380hp #. I was surprised by that number as well, but he insisted that our cars are very under-rated from the factory. Believe me, I asked him a few times if he was correct with the 380hp diagnosis. It was funny because he looked at me and insisted that there were modifications to the car. I guess I don't understand the rwhp number of my car very well. Like I said I had a 98Z m6 with only borla and it dyno'd at 317rwhp. Not to mention that I paid 167 for the test. Doesn't seem worth it. Almost makes me want to sell the car.

I would say your numbers are normal. Bone stock+auto+mustang dyno = lower numbers.

However 167 for the dyno run is kind of alot. Usually like 75 for 3 pulls around here

But also to be said mustang dyno's can be made to be accurate, it depends on the info inputed.

Your trap speed tells the real story here...that trap speed is well inline with what a stock-ish LS1 with an automatic tranny. Don't worry about the numbers...in this case, they are only clouding the water.

Most stock auto's are in the 300 range on a dynojet, so considering 20% drivetrain loss, 360 would be a average crank hp. Your guys numbers weren't to far off. The RW numbers seem average for a MD.

+1.... trap of 104mph means everything is fine; don't get caught up in numbers.

I would go to a dynojet and make a few pulls there. the hp seems normal for an auto on a MD like stated above. What seems odd is that hp and then the tq, that seems lke a whole lot of torque from a stock auto on a MD, right? My m/6 made 351 ft. lbs with just a cat-back and lid on a dynojet.

Am I wrong here? Doesn't a MD tend to show lower hp and tq numbers?
