Default Stock Internal LS1 dyno numbers

After running my 11.4X passes a few weeks ago, my crew chief and I came to the conclusion that my car was losing a lot up top. It would come out of the hole with the wheels in the air, cutting 1.47 60fts, but it would only run 11.42 @ 116.24, and it felt like it wasn't pulling on the big end. This combined with a few other small problems left me pretty much done for the '07 season. I had the chance to bring it over to Straightline Performance to see if we could find out the problems with the tune and see if we could get more out of it. Boy were we suprised...

Baseline numbers as the car sat were 310hp/320tq and a FAT AS HELL A:F ratio. The driver side o2 had been dumping fuel to try and correct it, but that seemed to be making it worse. (I have been battling o2 problems ever since I bought the car) So we decided to get rid of the o2s all together and just run it in closed loop. While I was there I decided to throw on my Fast Toys 85mm lid and 85mm '04 Z06 MAF I had sitting in the trunk to see if we would gain anything over the Wisper lid and stock de-screen MAF. After updating the MAF table and a few runs to tweak the timing and fuel tables, it made 339.6hp @ 6128 & 348.1tq @ 3830. These were numbers on a Mustang Chassis dyno. And they say stock internal cars fall of at 5900... With my new found 30hp & 28tq, combined with the 150 lbs more that is coming out of the car, I will be going for the Stock Internal Record come March

Misc info:

The car loves 26 degrees of timing the most, instead of the 28 that was in there.
The Yank PT4400 converter flashes to 4800-5000
Shift extension is 600 rpms (6300-5700)
A:F was fairly steady around 13:1

Here are the scans

Yes, on motor alone, bone stock longblock. My converter, gear, and tire are setup for motor and I would blow through it all if I tried to spray it.

I forgot to add that those dyno numbers are with the converter locked.

Thanks Elmer. With the new power and the 225lbs or so I am taking out of the car, I think it should see 11.0s with no problem. We'll see come March time.

Sounds good matt i am glad you got it tuned and picked up some more power that was hiding...did you end up doing three pulls or just two and how much do you think the added hp was due to the lid and maf over just your tune being off so much....thanks man

Very nice dude! Nothing better than coming away from the dyno with more hp!

Do you think the upgraded MAF gains some power over the stock one?

What is the stock internal record?

We actually made several pulls playing with the fuel tables and timing from 30 degrees down to 26 where it liked it the most. I think the MAF & lid were good for at least 10 hp & tq. It's hard to say because we didn't bother messing with the tune that was in there for the 75mm stuff because we knew we would have to go in there and change it all over again.

The 85mm MAF and Lid were definitely a gain, no doubt in my mind. I already have a ported LS2 90mm intake with a 90mm PTM throttle body, so the transition from 85-90 is better than 75-90.

The record is 10.86 @ 122

That was with me in it too. We just took out the heat and passenger side airbag over the weekend, and it now weighs 3040 with me in it. I still have to take out another 165lbs or so this winter. I am shooting for 2875 with me in it (I weigh 175)

your car is dead fast for it's mods matt. the 90/90 set up will make a huge difference for you, but i would put new valve springs and pushrods in it also, if it was my car. (there go's stock internals though)

Thanks man! I already have the 90/90, the only thing I changed was from the 75mm lid & MAF to the 85mm lid & MAF. I am not going to put valve springs or any other valvetrain mods in it until I break the record, and then I will throw a cam in. Some people think it is okay to replace them, but others are bitching that it isn't SI any more.
