haha. well thats good ****. my progress has been halted due to the loss of my 10mm deep socket. i dropped it putting in the second bolt to the first coil. and it is nowhere to be found. so i got frustrated looking for it so im taking a breather. im on my way back out right now.

Has that ticking sound come back?

Was there any mention about what pushrods are in the car?

My guess is that the joker who put in the cam messed up a bit regarding the valve train work. Or jut did not check the rods well. Its not all that hard to over-rev between 2nd and third and bend a pushrod, which will sap power.

well its kinda hard to tell about the ticking. i used to be able to hear it pretty good. now its hard to tell after i did all the work to it. but sometimes i think i do hear it. how can you tell if you have a bent pushrod. i mean i just took off the valve cover and i think i could see the pushrod. would i be able to access them through the valve cover. like undo the springs and retainers and whatever else is under the valve covers and pull the push rods and check them or is there more to it than that. cuz if thats it. it wouldnt be hard to check them.

to check the pushrods... pull the valve covers... undo the rockers and they'll slide right out...then just make sure their straight and not bent..

yea so if you do come across that they are hardned push rods. i think the final step would be to pull the cam. its the only way you would really find out what is in there. and it already looks like u have springs, and retainers....unless they are brand new, and stock ones look like that with low miles on them..but i doubt it.

ok folks. i pulled the pushrods and checked to see if they were bent. it was really easy. but somehow when putting the rocker arms bolts in i stripped the rear driver side rocker arm bolt hole. and when trying to tap it i snapped the rocker arm pedistal. i know i know im a dumbass. haha. so i have to take my head off tomorrow. im going to follow the ls1howto.com guide. but anywho, i took some pics of the pushrods so yall can tell me if they are aftermarket or not. i honestly dont think this car has a cam the more i hear it and the more i read the stuff yall are saying. but weather or not i do, its all good. well without any further hesitation....here are the pics...
