Went to the dyno and in my 98 auto t/a and pulled 284 HP and 294 ft/lbs tq....good stock (cutout closed) numbers or not? (120500 miles)

That looks like typical high mileage wear to me...you are probably losing compression. I could be wrong but my car with 20k miles 2002 A4 did 311/320. Are you planning on modding the car? You could try a compression test and then a leakdown test.

Ya if the car is an auto i would be happy with those numbers. If you want to you can get a tune and ill bet you could be right at 300rwhp .
As for maintenance:
Plugs
Plug wires
Fuel filter
sea foaming
Fresh oil and filter
Then go back to the dyno and get her tuned and ill guarantee you that you will at or above 300rwhp .

I would say they are pretty typical for a 98 auto with that high mileage. Do the basic maintenance stuff suggested above, but I wouldn't tune it unless you don't plan on modding anytime soon. If you're gonna be doing exhaust, etc, in the near future, hold off on the tune until afterwards, otherwise you'll pay twice or drive around with an untuned bolt-on car. Just my $.02.

those numbers look good, especially for the miles..98s don't have the LS6 intake, and your manifolds are not as good as the later model f-bods..congrats..

I wasn't saying the numbers are terrible...I am just saying that it is a high mileage car and if you are planning on spending money on it modding it then you should do some simple checks to make sure it is healthy and up to the task of more power without breaking something.
Did you and your dad go to the same dyno? Maybe that dyno reads on the low side. Those numbers for the vette do seem low. There are many 98 model LS1s that dyno in the 290-305 range.

your numbers are fine, actually really good considering your mileage..now your dad's numbers seem a bit low,if it was on a dynojet..
