Default 04 C5 smooth idle build

04 C5, auto. Customer wanted a nice smooth idle. Good power under the curve. Absolutely did not want a stall converter, and did not want a lopey idle. He picked out the cam, and went a little more conservative than I would have. He choose a 216/220 on a 115. We installed the cam, a 3.42 dif, a set of ETP CNCed 243s, Crane roller rockers, Kooks 1 7/8s, X pipe, high flow cats, and I think thats it. And of course a nice tune. Car had great throttle response, and neck snappin torque. It barely lopes at idle when cold, after warm it doesnt lope at all. Didnt even have to raise the idle. An UD and a ported intake is about all this things needs. It may not seem incredibly impressive, but for the idle quality and absolutely stock driveability, its a very impressive ride. It'll easily spin em from a 25 mph roll. Or spin em all the way thru 2nd from a stop. I think for as mild as the cam is, and thru an auto, its pretty impressive. I attribute the power to the ETP heads. Thats a fair chunk of it.

Love those small cam GIANTS. Great power under the curve. Must be a joy to drive.

I'll bet those 3.42's in an a4 make the car feel a lot more powerful then what the dyno numbers say. Very mild combo, and awesome results Ed. What do you think a ported 90/90 combo and u/d pully would add ?? What do you think of the Meziere EWP ? I love mine.

I'd love to see a nice ported FAST on this thing with a UD. Probably good for another 25 between the 2.

Thanks Pat. She pulls real hard from an idle. It'll just roast em. The Traction control has no idea what to do !! LOL

what lobes did u use,if i can ask..good job,by the way..
if it was me,i would have least put a mild converter in there,about a 2400 or so..with the cam,i don't think it would have felt any looser than the stocker..

I wanted to use a 228. I dont really care about the converter, either way. It would perform better with stickier tires with a little stall, but its got plenty of low end, so it doesnt really need one. Its almost 350 ft lbs at the hit.

so if you told me you would have to kill me..
i noticed that low end TQ..impressive..
i just remember how my old camaro felt when i first put the 3000 stall in it..like a whole new car..
i bet the owner is pretty happy with his new found power!
