So I got Christine Dyno'd this weekend.
It Dyno'd 316 hp to the Tires with the Exhaust cut outs closed, and 323 hp with the cut outs open.
Not bad considering the 1998 Trans Am LS1 that is in the car is only rated at 305 hp at the Crank!
Rumor has it that the 1998 LS1's ( which is the first year for the LS1 being put T/A's and Z28's ) had camshaft problems, and instead of getting the camshaft meant for the 305 hp rated F-Body cars they got the Corvette's camshaft instead. Since the Corvette LS1's were rated a 345 hp at the Crank I am guessing my motor is one of the F-body engines that got the Corvette camshaft.
Automatics generally have a 10 - 20% drivetrain. So that means with 323 hp it put down to the tire translates to around 360-380 hp at the crank.
Anyways just thought I would share in the exciting news of my Dyno runs.
Here is a Video from this weekend too when a had a lil fun.

Just like in the 1993 Corvette LT1 (300 hp) vs the 1993 F-Body LT1 (275 hp) or the Iron headed LT1 of the Impala/Caprice (260 hp).
The only reason a Corvette is faster is the weight difference between the two bodys(of course with a comparable options ie tranny and gearing). LS1 is LS1. There is a reason why RUMOR is called a RUMOR= not a fact.

Right now I am building a nice low miles original '77 that is screaming for a LSx conversion.

May I see pics of yours? I think they respond well to just about any engine, but with an LSx engine swap I don't think you would be disappointed one bit.

Here are a couple more posts if you are interested.
