Chris

Heads are 243 castings
Dynamic Compression Ratio

8.6 is a very good DCR 9.0 is too high IMO SCR or Static compression Ratio should be in the 11 to 1 or 11.8 to 1 area for 93 octane gas with a good tune in place. Your cam has a lot to due with your DCR. I was wondering what the DCR came out with using the cam you have.

He has the same setup as I do, same heads fast etc. The only difference is my cam is quite a bit larger and I hit 480 with my ls1 gto

What cam do you have? What was the torque?

I have the HPE Mega Death 244/242 .612/.610 112lsa

I may not recommend Chuck for Tuning anymore but this cam sure is nice

I am putting down 480rwhp and 460tq NA

The cam was designed to get the most out of stock casting heads, with a good tune it drives very well with a nice rumble at lights

Damn good numbers! I know a certain Camaro owner with a "similar" setup that would be extremely jealous of those numbers

So surely you flycut the pistons if you are indeed running the 59cc 243 PP heads.....

I wouldn't think the original poster would need to flycut with that PP cam using stock GM gaskets.

No flycutting here. I have Patriots previous castings that used welded chambers instead of milling. All the other head manufacturers I talked to would require flycutting, going with a different piston or custom heads.

Here is the graph. I used a stock MLS GM gasket #12498544. that was teh set p/n

I did not have to fly cut my pistions either.

As far as DCR I dont really know. I figured my static compression should be in the 11.1:1 range

I am not sure what the compression was but I thought my tuner said 11.1 + I have only seen one other GOAT owner with similar numbers and his was anything but a budget build. I think he used Trick Flow heads and those expenseive rockers and all.

I know someone that made 425/405rwtq with the patriot 5.3s and a 224 cam through an auto. These heads seem to make similar power to the PRC 5.3s

Any idea on your gas mileage with this setup?

Too late, I already saw it.

But seriously, I don't think I'd ever take a chance with another Patriot product. Let's compare our two setups:

449/425 to my 400/367. Same heads, only his are milled to 59cc vs my 62cc.

Now he's got a slightly larger cam, more compression, YT rockers, a 90/90 setup, and is running through the stock drivetrain unless I'm mistaken.

I've got a slightly smaller cam, less compression, no rockers, stock intake/TB, and am running through a 12-bolt with 4.10s and a 3.5" aluminum driveshaft.

To me, those numbers sound about right. Give me a 90/90, more compression, rockers, and run me through a stock driveshaft and 10-bolt (or stock C5 setup) and I don't think I'd be far off, if at all. My big question is why the hell is my torque so low?

It is a stock drivetrain. I know when I dropped it off at PBJ he told me to expect 410 at the wheels. Needless to say I was pretty d*** happy!!

I would be pretty happy with that, as well. Even with all the extra stuff you have, I'm pretty sure my setup wouldn't quite stack up to what you're putting down. If you don't mind me asking, how much did you spend on the H/C, 90/90, rockers, and the rest of the setup? Feel free to PM me if you'd like, just curious.

What bothers me about my setup is that I tell people I have a H/C LS1, and then I have to explain why it's such a weakass H/C LS1. I'd absolutely rather have stock heads on this car right now, just so I could say it's cam-only and not be embarrassed by the numbers it's putting down on the dyno and at the track.

I assume ScreaminRedZ was, as I said I had a similar setup as the OP. Then they asked about the tq etc.

But if not no big deal
