402#s
402#s well i finnally got my 402 on the dyno yesterday. I was hoping for some higer #s, but then who isnt. After getting the idle and other things taken care of, it made 462rwhp and 452rwt i was hoping for around 480-510 and more torque. But the torque curve is very good. I dont have the ability to post up sheets yet, but the torque comes in at 2800with like 375lbft and peaks at about 4700. It drives good and that makes me happy. I havent driven it for over a year. With a 100 shot it made 559-572 so when i pill the 150 i should be over 600. I am not going to get too wrapped up in #s though. When i set out to build this my goal was to have the car run on motor what it ran stock with n20 (11.2) and i think i should be close. 10s on juice should be pretty easy. I know with some 1 7/8" headers and some better heads i should be around 500, then maybe a cam, but i did this on a budget and if it runs mid to low 11s i will be happy, for now.

A friend of mine made 485rwhp with the same setup (almost) his rear is stock with 3.42
1 7/8 headers (TSP Awesome with great price check them out)

Here is a link to my old setup with those same heads and a 230/236 cam. I fyou have timing pulled for the NOS, you might be right on. What's your timing set @?

He pulled 6 degrees of timing for the n20, that is all i know, I was pretty disappointed that i really didnt get to talk to the tuner very much. I wanted to know more about what he was doing, but we could only watch from the door at the far end of the shop. I did not get much info, i dont even have the dyno sheets yet.

Looks like you got numbers that are less then heartstopping partially because of your heavy drive line. A 12 bolt can eat up a good bit. You have a cam that is good for making big power in a 346, not a 402. I am in the same boat as you bro. I am building a 402 and swapping my parts over from my MAX effort 346. Afr 205's 59cc and G5X3vII cam with a ported 92mm FAST opened up and matched to a 95mm tb. My goal is reliability first, numbers second. Another thing to keep in mind, I think I read that you had to pull 6*'s of timing for the N2O, thats another chunk of power missing. I would say you got a good reliable motor on your hands, and as you said you aren't getting caught up in the numbers game. Congrats on a good budget build that will probably out last many a high $$$$ build. 
yea, the #s are less than heartstopping, but i finally got a chance to drive it for more than 5min last nite, and it drives well, a little cam buck at low rpm, the idle is a touch high, 1100, but that thing pulls like a dirty S.O.B. It pulls just as hard as the 346 did on a 150 shot. That is what i was shooting for when i built it. I know with some better parts i can make better numbers, but i just didnt think that 50 or 60 hp was worth another 2k on parts. We will see what she runs next sunday at Earlville raceway in Iowa. I am hoping for mid to low 11's on motor. The way it pulls i wouldnt be suprised to see high 10's out of her, but that will just be icing on the cake.
Definitely some good numbers for the parts you have in it! That thing should run great on motor and pull like an out of control freight train on the juice! Plus, you have more potential if you want to keep modding down the road. Let us know how she does at the track.

I was wondering what clutch do you have, and is there any possiblility that it was slipping ??
LGM did an ls2 based 402 with similar parts to mine that are getting swapped over and did 502 rwhp 498 rwtq. I am hoping for the same out of mine with a safe N/A tune in place. I really think your clutch might be slipping and giving you low numbers. Good luck.

I have a spec stage 3+ It sure doesnt seem to slip on the street. And it didnt slip last time i had her to the track with the stickies on. But a dyno is going to load the hell outa it, i just wish i couldve talked to the tuner more.
As i said before, the dyno # dont mean that much to me. The only reason it went to the dyno was for a good tune, not just to find out how much power i am making, that was just an added bonus. If i had my own tuning software i would probably never take it to the dyno.

Thanks for sharing your information on your build bro. I really hope my new 402 can do better then my old 346. The 346 made 490 rwhp 445 rwtq. The heads, and cam are being swapped over to the 402. The ported 90 combo is sold and a ported 92 thats inlet was opened and matched to a 95 mm tb will replace it. Hopefully the extra cubes can give me at least an extra 10 rwhp and 40+ additional rwtq. Again thanks for sharing and the way you describe how she pulls makes me very anxious to get my car going. Its a matter of $$$. I need to make sure everything is paid in full first. OT has really slowed down, so its taking longer to get the money then in years past.

i sure wouldnt think you would have a problem reaching your goals. You were almost there with the 346. You just gotta love the torque that the 4 in stroke gives ya though. my curve starts at 2700 with 375lb ft. it is a blast to drive. I see a fair amount of max effort 346s making 430+ and i cant help but wonder what they drive like. I know by no means mine is maxed out, but my buget for now is and i just want to drive it. Maybe in a year or two i will get a different h/c combo and see where that takes me. Good luck with your build

hot rod mag did a test- 12 bolt, vs 9 inch vs stock 10 bolt.
the difference from stock to 9 inch was (if my memory serves me correct) about 7 hp, 12 bolt vs stock 10 bolt was 4.

i will be spraying more than the 100 shot, that is just where they set it. The more i think about it i think i will be looking into getting my own tuning software. I sure would have been nice to be able to talk to the tuner more.
