In my opinion, that is not near as impressive as the LS7. Most Z06s will put out 440 rwhp bone stock. That's only a 12.8% driveline loss. Either the LS7 is under-rated at 505 or the LS9 is over-rated at 638 hp. Both are SAE certified. I think IAT and ECT spark retard will kill most of the real world power of the supercharged engine. Give me the cubes. Long live the LS7.

I was expecting base numbers close to the tune #'s , I seem to remember reading about the Vipers putting 600 to the tire with full exhaust and a tune and starting out around where the ZR-1 starts. And that's with the same TR6060. That being said I hope the engine is stout enough to put out the #'s the Ford GT puts out with twin turbos. Heck if you can handle the IAT, underhood heat issue this LS9 is begging for twin turbos!

ya theres some quick stuff around the chicago suburbs. Unless you runs 10's you dont wana **** with anyone at the local friday night hangout. You ll get wacked and have your money taken.
On a side note, i wana see dyno numbers with a pulley, headers, and a tune. Bet it will be a nice curve.

But when you really look at it, for bone stock with a 5 year, 100,000 mile warranty, what builder on this forum or any other would stand behind their engine like that, if your smart, none. GM can not build them to the ragged edge like the aftermarket for that reason.
Of course, the two that just got tuned are now risking voiding their warranty. But I guess if you can spend $105,000 for the car its not a big deal.

The drivetrain loss should be pretty close to the Z06 in terms of actual HP ~70HP.
Remember, percentage is not a good way to look at changes in HP on a similar chassis. Why? Well, would it take more power to drive the same clutch and rearend just because the engine makes more power? Especially at the same RPM level (taking friction out of the equation)? Of course not.
Now, the clutch may be heavier to hold the load, but I doubt that'd eat up a ton more power. Either way, 638HP-70HP should be in the 560-570rwhp range which is where the ZR1 is at after the tune. So maybe with just a moderate amount of heatsoak, the engine starts to pull a crazy amount of timing.
If the intercooler is up to the task, I think 650-700rwhp is within range with a tune and a pulley change. No need for a new exhaust or cam (though they might help push it higher).

You are fortunate to live in an area where you can be a big fish in a small pond. In the larger metros, it's not uncommon to have legitimate 1000 rwhp cars rolling around. Come to the Texas Mile sometime if you want to be humbled by some high horsepower iron. The cars running 220mph+ make unreal horsepower for street cars.

Nice numbers from the ZR1, i have heard that GM welded the pulley on so it can't be changed from GM Inside News, i will try to find the thread.

More maintainence. Just one more thing to check. GM probably didn't want to push the setup anymore, imagine running more boost, Higher IAT's, and running out of meth and then something fails. Can you say huge warranty cost for gm. Thats just my opinion. Anyone else have an opinion

man thats a nice car if rick, jimmy and jeff are getting one does that mean Jr. will get one too. i heard he ordered like 5 of them. that would be awsome seeing all the hendrick drivers rolling in to the race track, all with brand new zr-1's

ok, what an animal out of the box, with a warranty.
watch when these cars become more common, and people start toying with them. Like said, that blower is barely moving pushing those 10lbs, and its at 650hp. What do u all thing when the thing gets pullied, some long tube headers, camshaft, ported heads, and meth??? You are looking at 800-900hp, you wait and see.

To many people knock meth, its not a crutch more so a alternative to race gas with a cooling benefit. So you have to check a tank every week or so if you have a decent size tank, so check when you fill up its not tough. A very small percentage of people have probably used it and know why its nice.
i agree with allngn on the fact of gm not putting it on from the factory, that would never happen.
