Default 9" on the Dyno..

I looked around but didn't see anything..

For those that would know this.. what do you think a expected loss of a full weight Moser 9" on the Dyno would be?

I've heard that it alone sucks up about 25-30hp, then you still have to factor 15-18% for the Standard.

i doubt it is anywhere near 25-30. i seem to remember a few that dropped around 10-12 rw or somewhere in that neighborhood.

probably depends on the car, gears, wheels..etc..etc. WHat you really need to look at is trap speeds. Mine didnt change after the 9"

There's a guy here(I forget who) that has a 12 bolt that dyno'd back to back and lost 19whp/23wtq. Being heavier than a 12 bolt I would say 20-25 is probably accurate, I never dyno'd my car with the 10 bolt before the swap.

It's not a 9-inch, but here are my results for comparison:

I had a stock 10-bolt with 3.73s and a stock driveshaft. I then installed a 3.5" aluminum driveshaft and a Moser 12-bolt with 4.10s. The car lost 19rwhp and 23rwtq on the same dynojet SAE.

I'm switching from a Stalled Auto with 3.73's to a T56 with 3.89's, so I see the Trap Speed getting higher easily.
I plan on Dyno'ing with the Drag Lites and the Radials on it. I'll be using an Aluminum Drive Shaft.

Some of that could have been the gear change.......but that's good that you have first hand experience and the numbers.

There's a lot of factors that can change your hp on the dyno though, so i am not sure if i would count on that big of a loss no matter what.

question: Basically you lose hp cuz there is more mass to be turned in the 9" right?
