Well then, the clutch is definitely not the weak point. I would still think a 1.8 would be possible though.

Thought i'd update this thread a little.......

The race was close..... too close. The stang went 12.6@111 spraying 2nd gear forward, not bad. Cutting 1.8's N/A on the 60'.

Jared was running good that night also, aside from a lack of track prep causing a few traction problems here and there.

Then Dan decided to spray 1st gear. Busted out two 12.1's@111.8. 1.68 60's.

We lined up the SS and the 'Stang, but the SS lost traction. No biggie, the night was over anyhow and they'd probably hook up again next test and tune.

The following day at the 1st points race, Dan is running the stang, and running good! The 'Stang hits 13.4's-6's all day N/A at 99-101MPH. In the 1st round of eliminations, he's on the line and BOOM. Driveshaft is spinning, but car won't move. Get it loaded on the trailer, and to the shop. Upon pulling the diff cover, everything is a-ok visually. Spin over the diff, RH tire moves, LH doesn't. Pulled the brakes and disc on the LH side, and this is what greeted me.

Soo, time to upgrade from the stock 27spline axles to Moser 30's and a matching carrier. The RH axle has twisted splines, I can't push the axle in to get the c-clip out. Going to have to sledge it in probably. The 8.8 diff's are tough, but share the same axles as the 7.5", and are ultimately the most failure prone point.

What a weekend.

Ya The stang got me, Our best to best was my 12.30 @ 107.20 to his 12.12 @ 111.50. When we raced each other he beat me by a few lengths cause I lost traction pretty good. I was running consistent 1.6x and that run I ran a 1.98 with a 12.78 to his 12.19. Oh well My car is still together and driving around, lol. It was a fun weekend.

Also, very good call on the N/A run! He's dead on mid 13's with 1.8 60's.

Although, he has one of the lightest GT's i've ever seen. No fog lights, crank windows, manual locks. It's basically a V6 car with GT badging, but VIN comes back as GT. Hell, I didn't even know they made a GT that was stripped down!

Weight of car with him in it is 3400 lbs on the dot.

That's what they call the "GTS". 248a code with 96-98 models. Basically the SN95 version of a foxbody 5.0 LX.

Well Guys I ordered long tubes so I can see how much closer I can make the race. He is about .3 faster on average right now so maybe I can get that down to .1-.2. I'll keep u posted.
