Question What does it take??

So, I have a question...

I know all the specs, but I wanna know from real world experience, what does it take for a stock lt1 to keep up with a stock ls1, driver mod being equal in both.

I would think maybe intake, exhaust, tune, and it should be close, but I could be way off. I know that the lt1s run low 14's at around 100mph or so, and I know an ls1 can run mid to low 13's at around 106-108, but what does it truly take for a stock lt1 to keep up with a stock ls1?

Depends on what you mean by "up in speed". Anything past 1st gear and the LS1 is gonna walk away

Well, I kinda raced this guy here, it was more just like goofin off, then a real race, but he launched out on me about a half car, cuz I can't help but spin, and he didn't at all, but as soon as I had traction, I caught up and started pulling.

He has a 96 m6 CAI and full exhaust from headers back.

Mine is an 01 a4 with 2.73s and lid and catback with cutout, p/p tb, plugs wires, that's it.

I am interested to see what everyone else has to say, it may turn into an exciting thread.

A buddy of mine had a 97SS...not stock anymore but when it was he raced a bone stock LS1 both cars are M6's and he beat it from a dig to 100mph. All he had done to it was lightweight flywheel lightweight driveshaft and a hell of a driver mod. From a low roll he would stay within a car length beside my car till 80 or so Then it would turn real ugly for him.

Idk, didn't the 97 ss have an lt4? I know that's more power, but yeah, the ls1 has more top end pull no question.

I am not sure about other 97SS but his for sure is an LT1. It is a factory lightweight "freak" but he has now done the LT4 swap to his car so it runs like hell now.

That's cool. It's just a question I have had for a while now. And this guy here got an lt1 z, so i figured the best way to find out was to ask.

I would say atleast full bolt ons and a tune. My car with full exhaust ran 12.7Xs@109-110 and a buddy of mine runs 12.9Xs-13.1Xs@107-110 with shitty short times. He has a Moroso intake, Mid-length headers, ORY, Hooker Catback, and a tune. There's more in the car for sure just gotta get his 60' times down.

LT1 cars are freaky sometimes, I know of one LT1 that beat several LS1 cars and Mustangs and his car still had the manifolds lol so Driver does have effect no driver is the same and numbers don't matter either I don't care what dyno's say! I love good streetracing
