Default 2001 5.3L T56 Dyno Numbers.

Well im new to the truck motors and coming from the lt1 world finally to see the light haha. Anyways im looking at picking up a 2001 5.3l retrofited as an ls1 with long tubes and catback exhaust driven through a t56 and 10 bolt rear. What kind of power levels should i expect from this setup? I know stock 5.3s usually put out around 250rwhp in a truck platform. This is currently in a 97 trans am. How are the blocks compared to LS1 or LQ4/9s. What power pontential can i have from mild h/c combo and whats the limitations on the bottom ends? Ive used the search browser but nothing popped up for the this setup.

Thanks.

Lots of info on the 5.3 over on the sibling site PerformanceTrucks.net I'm sure you will be able to answer your question after using the search feature over there.

The truck scene in my area is HUGE! From what I've seen and heard on the local forum, The 5.3L motors take more abuse and last longer than a lot of 6.0L engines.

Just looking for stock vs stock comparison as i see that the 5.3s are rated at 295hp from the factory and the ls1 is 305hp from the factory i just didnt know on paper what they put down. Both are very similar but just didnt know if there was a drastic difference between them.

Well, 305 isnt real....it's closer to 350 for the LS1's. On a dyno, stock, most fbody LS1's are around 280-320 (depending on car/tranny).

I'm not sure about the 5.3 as far as dyno number sgo
