80 Malibu with carbed 5.3...... Well ive got a little project going and i really have no idea what to expect as far as power/ET when its finished. Let me hear your thoughts and opinions/suggestions!
Its a hardtop 80 malibu 2-door. Full interior, Bench seat, crank windows, no power locks or mirrors or anything, no heat, no air, no power steering...basically a stripper car.
The motor is a 2004 junkyard 5.3 with 65,000 miles. Iron block, stock aluminum heads. SLP underdrive pulley, Comp ***** thumpr cam, good valvesprings, LS2 timing chain, new headgaskets, Edelbrock Victor JR intake manifold.
It will either have a Holley street avenger 670 carb, OR, a quick fuel 650 carb. Help me decide.
Longtube headers, 3" X pipe to magnaflow dumps.
Manual steering box, aluminum radiator etc.
TH400 with full reverse manual valvebody, PI 3600 stall, B&M pro ratchet.
8.5" Grand national 10 bolt. Probably going to use 3.73 gears?
275/60/15 mickey thompson drag radials on centerline wheels. Skinnys in the front.
I will post pictures and cam specs later.
Anyone want to take a wild guess what it will run or how much power it will make?>

cam specs-
intake lift- .564
exhaust- .547
109 LSA
duration intake- 227
exhaust- 241
car craft magazine used this exact same cam on a similar carbed 5.3 and made over 400 HP on an engine dyno...
Forgot to add it has eibach drag springs, lakewood drag shocks, boxed lower control arms, no front sway bar, fiberglass cowl.

The goal is 11's where I live with 3600 elevation 5000+ da .
