2011 Mustang GT
I want everyone's opinions on our 98-02 (for the most part) ls1s going up against this new technology. Our cars were a marvel of technology in its day, since there has been the ls2, 6, 2, 3, 7, Terminators, now the 400hp Mustang GT.
I can deal with the fact that my car couldn't hang with cars that come with a $50,000+ price tag, and I'm still saving money to keep up with Terminators, but I think this one takes the cake. Power of the Camaros in a body that rivals the curb weight of our 4th gens, STOCK. And of course, its the base GT so the price tag will be <$30,000.
What will us LS1 guys do with our outdated technology? Maybe we'll all join thirdgen.org
For those of you who don't know about this catastrophe yet, please read here:

The new 2011 will not be faster than the terminators! I bet the real world numbers will have it running mid to low 13's. Its a nice car but nothing for us ls1 people to be worried about!

I think you'll find yourself in the smaller crowd with that opinion. I'm not saying it'll be the best thing since sliced bread, but to think it'll run with an S197 4.6L nose to nose with 100 more RWHP is a tad of a stretch.

This has been covered over and over again. Let's not forget, 4.6L 4V guys aren't too happy either. LOL

They are very impressive . But Ill be ready for them . I cant wait to catch one at a light with a temp. tag in the rear window . LS1 + 4000 stall + 373 gears +315 drag radials = Bye -Bye on the street .

Of course, I don't think they did that. The technology is there, has been for 15 years, to make a legit 12 second 5.0- Ford just choice the smart choice, which was make slower but cooler looking cars and sell the **** out of them. Now they are playing around and using there new found strength in the market place to go for dominance in there market. And dominate they will once Saleen and SVT and who knows else starts making and selling there supercharged 5.0's from every dealer in existence!
Fellas, honesty it's time to put up or shut up: 1980's all over again. And thats a good thing. Let the modding begin!

And WTF does insurance companies have to do with this? I must be totally losing you, because I don't see how that has anything to do with what this car will run. You do realize that they ahve dyno'd upper 300s bone stock right? with 3.73s and better gearing than a T56. Not to mention, they are targeted to be lighter than the '10 camaro's.
personally, I think you sound like a brand loyalist bowtie guy that can't admit that FMC might be putting out a better car. Ironically, it's not the first time FMC has done it.
Man are you seriously that brain damaged? The new 5.0 is legit, and as faster than ANY stock LS1 Fbody... as fast as a LS3 2010 Camaro for that matter- at least until the REAL cars come out and we find out whether or not Ford used rigged press release cars like so many other bulls**t manufacturers!

Its also funny that they had the camaro ss running a 13.0 sec 1/4 mile and at the track I seen one with intake, cat-back and drag radials run a 13.6. The vid where they show the gt running a 12.8 could be b.s, but after seeing a new 2010 ss with intake, catback and dr's run a 13.6 consistantly I still think it will take the new ss pretty good.

Seems like a very dangerous car. Wonder how much more power you'd get out of one with a few cheap bolt ons? Definitely figure it to easily take a 98-02 f-body stock for stock with equal drivers.

driver mod BIG time...
2010 ss is capable of running 12.7's...constantly to back it up. and thats bone stock down to the paper filter.
but yeah, those mustangs are gonna be pretty nice. cant wait to see some vids up against a camaro.

What are we LS1 guys going to do? Simple: Evolve and become faster with newer parts, buy newer, faster cars, or die out like the dinosaurs did...

i dont think the bolt on LS1 cars should be worried about the new 5.0 when its stock. Modded I dont know about that one but the new 5.0 stock should be a mid to low 12 second car in good hands and that is Bolt on LS1 territory. But in the real world on the streets im going to be the one to say that most drivers are going to be running it like a 13 second car plain and simple just like you see 2010 SS's that run 14's theres a reason for that....the driver
