Default lt1 v ls1

friend of mine just finished up a build up on his lt1 formula ws6 and wanted to see what you guys thought how 2 friends would stack up.

-96 formula 6 speed (poorly matched setup, i know)
383 lt1
stock ported heads
248/25x cam
****, forgot the compression. mid 11s maybe, its still pump gas.
4.10s
slicks/skinnies
little weight reduction
LTs--Y--borla
....made 379/392 on a badly slipping clutch (dynojet). tuner said 400 on a good cltuch

-98 z28 6 speed
347
touched up 853s (nothing big)
233/239
3.42
LTs--dumped Y
ls6 intake
......made 365/365 on a mustang dyno that usually reads 8-10% lower, so figure ~400 to the wheels.

**i think i got the setups right, but im close enough.

at the track, obviously will be the formula, but what about from a roll or a street dig?

i would say most likely the ls1 if the lt1 isn't running slicks in the dig race

though it's close enough that it could be a driver's race.

back when i had a baby cam and full exhaust i ran a 383 lt1 auto with gears and exhaust and we were even thru my 1st and 2nd, but when i wrung out 3rd he started to fall back and by 4th i was in the clear. i think you both being manual and him having better gears, and more cubes, your gonna have your hands full.

*inserts random LT1 fanboy comment*

Seriously though if a 383 LT1 doesn't take this then he has a pile of horse manure for an engine and the builder has the same for a brain.
