Default Trans Am Vs. Wrx

After I pick up my T/A plans are to race my buddy in his WRX, he has been talking a lot of ****, and im not sure who will win, I know from a stop he will beat me, but from any kind of roll im pretty sure i can beat him, the known mods to his car are a new hood scoop, a blouch 16g turbo (not sure how much bigger that is than stock) and a few free mods. The T/A as far as I know just has a cat-back, its at a dealership so they don't know too much about the history. Any ideas? Just read he is pushing about 18psi and 320-ish to the wheels, so he'd have me beat or close to on hp

is your t/a an auto or m6? from a dead stop if yours an auto you might could have a chance..but if your in an m6 its a chance that you will spin..and ur buddy more than likely wont seein as how he's in an awd. what year is the t/a? it should be close to ur buddies hp.

The T/A is an A4, from the looks of it, its got a cat-back, not sure but its def. not a borla lol. I just need to delay for a few weeks to get some free mods done, I know they dont do much, if anything at all, but still every bit helps.

if its an lt1 youre screwed. ls1 i still think you may have a chance. the wrx isnt nearly as nasty as the STi. the odler wrx's were only 220hp the new ones are 260

He claims to be pushing 320 to the wheels but this kid is known for blowing things up way bigger than they really are. In reality to the rest of us i think he is pushing somewhere near 280-300 max to the wheels. AWD will smoke me off the line. I think once i hit second it will be dead even, from a roll, at least the stock ls1's vs slightly modded wrx's like his on youtube ive seen, its about like that. In a week or so I should have vids up of it.

well a few things...

the tranny and rear in the WRX are not very strong and bust even with stock power...

even starting at 220hp stock he'd have to have some serious mods not jsut a different turbo and a few free mods to be pushing 280WHP thats 80+hp he'd have to add on...

Thats what I've heard, along with the tranny shattering on take offs. He has an FMIC as well but even with that he cant be adding close to 100 hp. He has an 03' which I believe has 227 hp stock to the crank.

I think yore going to waste him.. Since you have an auto I say get them tires good n sticky, stall the car and launch it as hard as you can. i think he will have the AWD jump edge but will quickly deminish

ehh its fine, not the best but it'll work. the smaller the tire/rim the less rotational mass but can be counter productive also if it spins to much then a big tire with more bite is the better route.

Almost stock A4s are not very quick IMO. Find your powerbands, learn to launch the car and then race him. You may need the driver mod to win this one.

i think it will depend on high you are willing to race.... if he really is putting down even 280 rwhp he is lighter and should take you out of the hole if his trans doesnt break... haha. anyway i think your gonna have your hands full if he is making that power.

He is not making that much power I bet, my friend with more mods to his wrx than that doesn't put down that much. Also, if he is on the stock 5 speed, get him to launch it hard. It will shoot little pieces of shiny all over the ground!

Their 5 speed is like our 10 bolt, I think you can take him though, you certainly have more power on tap lower down than he will.
