talking stock here, or close too it.
ls1 4th gen auto vs ls1 4th gen manual.
ive had a couple people telling me that the autos are faster, but I dont believe that, and i thought i remember hearing they(manuals) ran a few tenths faster.

man, you don't want to start this debate, it will turn ugly real fast. there are people that are die-hard auto fans and people who are die-hard manual fans and you wont convince either any different. i think the consensus is that stock the manual is faster but a stalled auto can beat a manual.
In most cases the auto will be quicker from a dig because most people can't launch/shift to full potential.
A perfectly driven manual should be faster and IIRC the fastest recorded times for stock cars are manuals.
From a roll a well driven manual will ALWAYS win if equally modded and usually even if slightly less modded (depending on start MPH).

ok, so what im seeing is this...
autos are better out of the hole and usually have better 60' times
manuals get harder to shift once you start modding them, but are better from a roll and have higher trap speeds.
so dead stock with a good driver the auto will be slower because it has more drivetrain loss, but once you start modding the auto will be faster and more consistant.
sorry to dig up any hard feelings, i was just looking for an answer, ill end the discusssion now :p

Why would it be any more "hard"? Are you talking about physically shifting the gears, or keeping up with the tach or what?

Auto's usually get better 60ft times because its easier to launch them, that being said manuals can get the same 60ft times with someone who knows what they are doing.
The auto's are generally slower because of gearing, not drive train loss. You're comparing a 6 speed to a 4 speed, check out the cars that have both 6 speed autos and manuals available and you will notice that they usually run near identical times.

True. But anytime you're comparing the two, driver skill is always a huge factor for the M6. So when you're comparing just the transmissions, you kinda have to assume the M6 has a perfect driver.
its a personal preference. Ima a stick guy personally but I have come accross some autos that do the same damage with same mods. I have never owned an auto vehicle before, and don't see my self doing so because of my preference. to each there own. i have come to learn being a new LS1 owner that if you push the gas the car will move faster than most once you start modding it auto or stick.

"And im 100% sure if a Z06 came in Auto option it would be quicker. You or nobody else can shift faster than an auto(depending on what kind of car) An LS1 will shift at red line so it is 100% same as manual except it shifts faster than that manual "
this is what the guy just said.
