If youre gonna go to all the trouble and expense of doing a cam upgrade there are much better choices than the ls6

Stock the Lq9 was rated at 345 HP at the crank. That would get you around 300 at the rear wheels. Add a Ls6 cam and you would get around 375-380 at the crank. Really not bad if you want to do it on the cheap with homologated parts from the OEM. As others have pointed out though there are after market choices that would get you much more power. A basic 224/224 .580/.580 114LSA cam would make 40hp more than an Ls6 cam. Also something to consider is are you going to carb the motor or use EFI?
