Year: 1998
Make: Honda
Model: VFR800 Interceptor
Color: Red
Mileage: 33,000
Transmission: Manual
Price: 3250
Description: I'm looking to sell or trade my 1998 Honda VFR800 Interceptor. I'm looking to trade it for a Honda car - MUST be an HB VX, HF, HX or other very high efficiency model (50 MPG highway or better). Must also have air conditioning that works and the car must be in good condition, aka something I can start commuting with now! I'll also sell the bike for cash
My VFR has a gear-driven cam, which sounds incredible. The best I can describe the engine noise is like the whine of a supercharger. The exhaust note is also amazing. It's similar to a small block Chevy at wide open throttle.
The bad: Rear wheel has some missing paint due to prior owner spilling brake fluid years ago, minor scratches and paint fade on plastic. Prior owner also drilled a few small holes into the fairing for additional cooling. Looks fine in my opinion. This bike has never been wrecked or rebuilt!
What the bike has: 33,XXX miles running on Mobil 1 fully synthetic motorcycle oil, RARE Single Sided Swing arm, high mount Two Brothers carbon fiber pipe, Power Commander II, blue LED gauge cluster lighting, 4300K bi-xenon dual H4 HID setup, twin rear brake/running light LED drop in clusters (You can see at night and be seen during the day!), also includes a solid paint matched rear seat cover, Corbin seat with provision for backrest (backrest not included), Zero Gravity tinted windscreen. Both front and rear tires are new (within the past 2 years).
The best time I could pull off was an 11.6 @ 119 MPH at Cecil County Dragway in MD. I've taken it there once just to see what it could do.
The bike runs strong, looks great, and sounds amazing! I have videos and photos upon request. I'm 6'4" and this is one of the most comfortable bikes I've been on. My fiance and I typically ride 200+ miles a weekend on it. The ONLY reason I am selling it is that we just bought a house and I need an all weather vehicle for my 56 mile round trip commute.

Damn! haha. A few guys here at work have the '91-'94 VX's, all are 5 speed with AC. It was most likely an option I would guess. Most guys on the Eco-Modder forums that have 'em get around 47-50 MPG highway with the AC on, and 51-55 MPG with the AC off, from the posts I've seen at least. I can see the CRX not having AC though since it's a lot older. I'm leaning towards the Civic hatch VX's over the HF and HX.
Hmm, seems you're right, the 92-95s did come with optional A/C.
The best I got on mine was 48.5 MPGs and that was when I first got it. When I sold it, I was getting average 45. Reason for the drop was I kept driving it faster and faster (out of lean-burn) and I had a huge ricer ram-air hood. Primary reason why I sold it. It was superb on gas/5ish people seating, BUT it was a huge driving penalty box. Keep this in mind going forward. I daily'd that car for 2 years and just about wanted to punch myself in the face any time I accelerated.
A little pros/cons for the VX:
Pro:
GREAT gas mileage
Decent seating space (had 4ppl+carseat at one point)
Great cargo space with the seats folded down
Parts for hatches are everywhere on craigslist
Cons:
Terrible power
Have the typical Honda rust
Getting old/high in mileage
$150 to replace an O2 sensor
Probably would want to upgrade sound system and add rear speakers
When it comes time to sell, expect every turd to come out of the woodworks

To get the most out of the car, keep everything stock and up-to-date. Check all pads for drag, wheel bearings, VX air dam/aero flaps, etc. Also see if the alternator has been maintained, cause if it's the original, expect to have to cut and mangle it to replace it (ask me how I know lol). Read up on the VX specific parts before you buy one. It's totally "nicer" than the HF/HXs, but those cars don't look as bland.
It's not a bad car to own/drive... if you're alright with having absolutely no power. If you ever stopped caring about fuel economy, those thing weigh nothing. My car scaled at 2200 with me + some tools. So it's a 2000 pound flat car. It ran ~17.4 in the 1/4, spinning off the line.
Good luck with whichever route you go.

Thanks a TON for all the info man! I drive 98% highway on my commute, so I am not too worried about lack of power. I just want good MPG and that's all
That other stuff is not a huge deal either. All up-gradable and able to deal with IMO, for the savings I will see on gas.

Just took it out for 250 miles over the weekend with my fiance, from Flourtown to Doylestown to New Hope to Van Sant Airport and back. Rode great! FWIW: I typically average 40+ MPG and my insurance is $11/month!

Last price drop of the season. Perfect fall weather for some great riding!
$2500
If it doesn't sell for this price or we cannot work out a trade it's going in the garage during winter and back on the market in spring for $3250.
