I do "Research and Development" for DuPont - the majority of my job has little to do with organic. In industry it isnt like a test in college, you always have resources at your fingertips, just got to know where to look, and you become very familiar with what applies to you everyday.

With that said, it is still very important to keep the gpa high - grad school, and recruiting is VERY competitive and it is only going to get worse.

I completely agree. In the Pharmaceutical industry, more important than book smarts is good lab skills and compliance, specifically good observations and documentation skills. The fact that every day we are at risk of being audited and shut down, compliance and GLP is critical. GLP is good laboratory practices.

CFO of a growing mortgage company was previosly an HVAC tech for one of the top 5 companies on the east coast. but a motorcycle accident and lost leg later I find myself unable to carry a 30 lb tool bag to the top of a four story straight ladder. Friend owns the mortgage company offers to give me a job. One year later a guy with a GED and an assosiates degree in refrigeration is managing 20 million a month. Go figure. wtf.

Driver for W.B. Mason Co. My DD is a 20ft. 2003 Freightliner panel, Straight 6 turbo diesel AT. My back hates the damn leaf sprung suspension and bumpy Mass. roads. My wallet loves the pay.
