Default dyno tune?

im starting a stroker build on my lt1 and will need a tune in the end. ive been pricing everything out and figuring out wat and whose stuff i will be using so i need an idea of a price and a good place to dyno tune my car. itll be a forged lt1 383 with a 200 shot and hopefully sooner then later a fab 9". so im looking for a shop that will help me and give me a real good tune for this id prefer a shop in nj close to the trenton area but for the right price will drive or trailer the car. would lik info on the whole tuning process if possible.
thanks,
rob

More than likely you will need it no matter what. Not too many people have custom LT1 tuning software.

If you can, switch to a 93-94 or 96-97 computer, sensors, and harness when you do the build. 95 was sort of a bastard year, not pure OBD1, but not OBD2 either. So there are a lot of issues with getting it tuned in and working properly.

Ok, since everyone is Scared of Working on ODB1 cars.....

Most tuning shops will do the work because ANYONE worth their salt who knows how to tune can do the job. Its just learning the software's terminaology, but often will make you get the software, this is what you need.

Tuner CATS w/ the Appropriate Year File
Datamaster to collect data
Laptop to Car cable via AKMCable

On Tuner Cats's website they have the program to load the .bin file, so you will have to grab that too.

I have one that I can email you, if you want a ball park persay, it was a 383 with larger injectors, tuned for a hotcam, and Auto trans w/ stall wall fix. Pm of interested.

It doesnt specifiy 93-97 Fbodies, their FAQ all talk about Gift certificates.

And depending on the Year Fbody, tuning is different....

1993- Burnable Chip (i.e. Bastard Year)
1994-1995 Flashable PCM via ODB1 based software
1996-1997 Flashable PCM via ODB2 based software

I am sure he can call but just be aware, its not all the same like 98+ cars where the worst is the 98 PCM doesnt allow as much for tuning as persay a 1999 and newer car, the software all works the same for all the years. LT1's do not have that benefit.

Like said, call and ask and specify the year, back when I did my car, alot of shops said they would tune until I mentioned it was a 94. The they said, "oh, its not ODB2, nope, sorry, we can't"

I'll have to update the site but we do have all of the software and hardware required for '94 - '97 LT tuning. Feel free to give us a call when you're ready.
