As it's been said, their are hundreds of smaller more expensive things to grab that pass by these workers every day. A box that big and heavy is probably something they don't want, and is tougher to steal.

If it was insured, they'll pay. If not, you took the risk, and as much as it sucks that you can PROVE they lost it, they aren't obligated to give you anything.
