That's what I thought but the local hacks had them since friday and couldn't figure it out. these guys even tried to use a bearing splitter!

not as trivial as it sounds...I have a 20ton press in my home garage, but the axle flange doesn't fit in between the supports of my press table, so even with a splitter attached, there isn't any way (at least on this size press) to pop the bearings off...

You need a big *** splitter because the backing plate is in the way.I absolutely hate getting those bearings off.On my own car I just cut them off- easier.

I suppose using a torch would be a bad idea. Wouldn't it screw up the heat treatment? Cut them off with a really good die grinder?

Brookline Machine says they can get them off. I'm going to drop them off today. I hope they don't charge too much.

They're off. I think I could have done this myself with a grinder and a cut-off wheel.
