Default Who can help with a cam install?

I'm planning on getting a cam in a few weeks for spring, and I don't want to pay a shop $1000 for an install. I'll be getting a 2 piece timing cover with it as well. Anyone in the central jersey area knowledgable and would be willing to lend a helping hand or advice for a few hours when the time comes?

^ $550 sounds like a good deal to me. If you're not too sure of yourself then I'd go with these guys.

Beautiful car btw!

the rack has to come outta the car so if you dont feel comfortable it might be a better bet to have a shop do it for the little extra $$$ but then again it is a good feeling to do it yourself. also if you havent already make sure you get a new crank seal, pushrods, springs, w/p gaskets , timing chain, oil pump oring, ect.

either pay the 550 or accidentally do something wrong and end up paying 5000 for a new motor. nice to do it yourself i agree but there is a little room for error and i wouldnt wanna get stuck in the middle and have to pay anyways.

Damn dude for $550 I'd be all over that. I'm all about doing things myself and the sense of accompishment. But thats a lot of hassle off your shoulders. Besides Fran will do a good job.

Damn, $550 ain't bad. The shop I talked with, justified their 4 figure price tag with the fact that the steering rack did have to come out like you said. I may be calling your shop in a few weeks. What's the turn around time for a cam install? Does that price include tuned?

If you decide to do it yourself, let me know, I'll send you pics of the install and directions..I'll also give you my phone number in case you get stuck...
It really is not difficult, just a pain in the butt!
