i've driven a Legacy not the turbo but i really like it. car handles beautifully. i would really like to drive the turbo version. what i don't like about it is that for a 4 cyl its thirsty

the sti must be super fun to drive.

The only thing I don't like is.. mash the pedal at 1500rpm.. wait on it...wait on it..wait on...WHEEEEEEEEE

My wife has a 5-speed Baja Turbo, and it's gutless under 2500rpm..

Then bring it to me for a tune and you will really see what these cars are capable of. They are amazing.

yea i def noticed that, but thats what intrigued me the most.... i drive a LT1 and im use to the low end torque then having it die up top.... the high end torque was a lot of fun for a change

My sentiment also. Have been car shopping since selling my 96 Talon TSIAWD last summer. Felt like I sold my childhood.

Have driven the STI, Legacy, WRX, G35x, and the Evo. Man, the STI and the Evo were fun & fast but just not for me. Being on the far side of 50, I could not imagine driving around with those wings at 60 and beyond.! All but the G35x were 6 speeds as I have not learned yet to drive an auto without my left foot and right hand flailing about.

So..yesterday I parked in my garage a 2006 Mazdaspeed6 GT. Turbo 2.3 liter 4 cyl. with torque & yaw controled AWD and variable speed steering. At 274 hp & 280 ft. lb. of torque it was a limited edition of 5k vehicles to rate potential.

It has it and is an amenity filled STI for adults.

I am a kid again!

Would love to bash one through the woods wide open on narrow trails over the whoops and across the ice reaching a clear snowy/muddy frozen field just tossin it back and forth , donuts, mud flying, tearin the exhaust off and laughing like it was your 1st hell ride. Naaah got no idea why anyone would ever want one.

lol, i got hooked on subaru's as a teen but just like yourself, ive recently been looking at DSM's. the RWD V-8 cars are fun and all but to me its a much more raw feeling when one of those little 2-3.0L turbo spools up. guess i need a faster T/A

My buddy has a STI and he laughed when a kid with a 98 z28 a4 wanted to race. His STI spanked him and then my buddy had the gull to ask the kid if he wanted to try it again. Stupid kid tried to bs and say his factory car had 500 horses and it wasnt running right. It was pretty funny as soon as they waved the race, instant 6 lenghts. I want one now...

Agreed. My brother has an '08 WRX w/ a few bolt-ons. It's definitely fun and handles great but I miss the low-end torque a bit...

The 2009 WRX has more power than previous ones, interesting:
http://www.caranddriver.com/reviews/...t_drive_review

the revised WRX now blasts to 60 mph from a standstill in an electrifying 4.7 seconds. That's 1.1 seconds quicker than the 2008 model—and get this—0.3 second quicker than we've managed in a WRX STI, the supposedly higher-performance version of the WRX
