local rear end shop?
local rear end shop? looking for a good shop fix my 10 bolt. ive screwed w/ this thing long enough and cant get these motive gears to stop whining. i dont have the time to keep pulling it apart and buying bearings and seals. anyone know anyone in the new england area (perfer MA or NH) thats good at setting these up?

yea thats the mind set im in right now. ive got the pattern mint, backlash at 8,pinion preload set up right. **** me off. i dont mind buying a new set of gears if i have to. kinda wanna go w/ GM gears this time. Slowhawk - are you guys setting them up over there? you can pick your brand of gears, i dont care as long as there quiet. if you could, PM me w/ a price.

Slowhawk I am sure can def help you but be aware, even if you drive the car hard and a M6 does shock the rear harder then a A4, I would estimate the noise will come back. Get a quote and think about how much closer you would be to a 12 bolt, Ford 8.8 or even 9".

rear ends Well the 9 inch from moser is prob your best bet !Easy to install and strong as can be.Its not a bad price either. If your going to have any type of real power you should prob save yourself the time money and aggravation.You can also buy additional center sections with different gear sets in them and swap them out in about 20 mins.

Pole's Auto set up the kid who owns Reeds Ferry Sheds (right behind my shop on rt. 111) gears on his '02 Z28. 4.10s, 6 months later he blew the rear for the third time.
The 10 bolt is a piece of garbage homie. Time to step it up and go 12 bolt or 9 inch.

lol ill dump the clutch in front of your shop one morning and send the diff flying into the show room. if i can get 6 months out of it than sweet haha. id love a nine inch but my shop just yanked any and all overtime so im #*&%ed. what ended up happening to the new gear set "i think" was that when the old school guy (very seasoned tech) at my shop walked me through the set up he used the carrier bearing cap to seat the 2nd carrier shim. when i took it apart the first time i noticed that the shim wasnt fully seated and the carrier bearings were chewed up. that was after alittle under 500 miles. changed the bearing and checled the pattern. still noisey. so the only thing i can do money wise right now is buy a new gear set. i think ill go w/ gm's tho.
