Default 4L60JunkE for sure

Well my tranny is done for a second time. Its slipping on the 2-3 shift again. Im pissed because I've spent a lot on getting that thing done over the years and the vig converter too. Looks like i might be swapping for a th400. we'll see how much more money it is since there is a bunch of other stuff that goes along with the swap. if i do swap be on the lookout because my umi tunnel mount t/a setup and vig 3200 will be up for sale. plus they'll be a price reduction on the brand spanking new TTM's i had posted in the for sale section a while back.

The tranny's are garbage. Any more then 400 hp and they can't take it, and even at that power level they can't take it if your racing alot.

The right company's can easilly build a 4L60 to take the power.400hp is a cake walk.I've done a few that take 700+rwhp with full track abuses on top of my DD car that see's the track almost every weekend. The problem is finding the right company,we use FLT for all our builds.

which flt level trans are you using in those cars? id have to assume it's the very pricey one. the th400 could be built to take that abuse for a lot less. but if you guys are DD those things its a different story. mine is more of a weekend warrior and not too much highway time unless im going to the track.

Your power we run the level 4.Ted runs one in his car. My car and the other highly built cars get the level 5's. Yes they cost $$ but it's alot better running a lockup converter and OD on the street than a Th400.If you drive a ways to the track it gets old doing 55mph in the th400 while watching the tranny temp.

yea thats a concern for me. i have a tranny cooler but would upgrade to a larger unit with a fan to be safer if i went with a th400. i'm going with a 200 shot in the future so i'm looking at around 650rwhp. i've driven the car in 3rd gear on the highway with my 4L60e it's annoying but i could tolerate it once in a while on long trips to the track.

same boat.

I can't live with 3 gears. FLT makes awesome trannys and I'll probably get one myself at some point.

Otherwise I'd be looking at a 4l80e swap.

The "built" tranny I have now works, just won't shift on a 2-3. right now I have to live with it.

It's all about parts used and who builds it. Not uncommon to see a good built 4l60 behind a 10 second car for a few seasons before a refresh is needed. Also if you beat the car on the street all the time, well nothing lasts forever.

I'm with Don on this one, they can easily be built to handle some power.I ran a 4l60 for years when my Camaro was running 9's. no problems, and I could still do highway speeds on the ride home

I should clarify, regular driving is fine, It won't shift 2-3 at WOT only.
