Default Mainers make it happen

These threads do come up every month or so, I know this and have been in a few myself. But I'm here in So. Portland maine with my z28 camaro in storage sitting in Old Orchard beach. Last time I drove her it was one month and 3 weeks ago and I raced a 07 chevy 4500 turbo diesel. Blew its doors right off the truck but theres not much competition up here. I know, rip on me all you want cause it wasn't much of a race but the guys in the truck were asking for it.

So I was wondering who else already has there car put away. Its not that bad here yet, it has snowed already but if you were more ballsie (or didn't have a second f-body like I do) than maybe you are still driving your f-body. So who is? If you've put it away already when did you and why? If you haven't are you waiting for the snow to stick like my friend with a completely stock 03 Rousch mustang with street tires. Or are you like me, "oh its cold time to put it away!!"

I would like to here from everyone in the New England area but mostly from those in maine. I know there aren't many of us up here so I'd like to see who else is surviving.

Maybe even find a few people to race with once spring comes

I'm from Scarborough, I'm sure you know where that is. My car has been in the garage for two years now. I'm waiting to get my new engine back so I can get started on getting the car finished.

Oouch! Down for two years, You sir are a patient man. Yes I know where scarborough is. Blew up my ford excort wagon over there at scarborogh downs 3 weeks ago, blew the axle right off of it going through the dirt parking lot witht the e-brake yanked and the gas pedal floored. It made the worst noise ever; I had AAA tow it to my house, junked it the next day for $75.

I haven't been waiting for the engine for two years, just been tinkering on the car slowly and collecting all the little odds & ends needed for the transplant. Yes, I'm getting anxious to get it back on the road.

I live near Bangor and just drove my car to Portland 2 weeks ago. I haven't officially parked it yet, but probably will soon. Right now it's sitting in my heated garage.

Though i've moved from the Presque Isle area, my parents still live up there, my father is still driving his el camino on the weekends...don't know why?...but my 73 roadrunner has been sitting in a storage garage since...98 I think...long enough that I could have bought and paid off a few cars. I completely rebiult it, new paint, hooked up the engine, but never drove the car afterwards. Now I move around every year or two for the military so it isn't even worth the headache...damned it all.

Seems these do pop up every so often. Problem is most of us on here are alteast an hour apart. Hell, I'm and easy 2 hours north of Portland but still prob 2 hours south of Presque Isle, that would be location: middle of nowhere!

HAHA your right. I'm going to put some effort in next summer to take a trip somewhere to meet up with some people that share the interest and may want to run em. Maine blows for the car scene. Isn't so good for the street racing scene either. So many ricers with **** boxes with big *** fart cans, rusted all over and slow as hell can't even beat my 6 banger firebird.
But than there are so many nice cars (in the cape elizabeth area) that don't want to race in there 100k+ Porsche/Ford GT/Aston Martin/Ferrari/Lambo/Viper/Corvette/Beamer. Rich bastards.

im from centeral mass and the t/a is away in the garage just got a few inches of snow the other day so itm def not taking it out again this year. i usually drive it untill the first snowfall and then thats it This was the worst year for me prob didnt even put over 400 miles this year from march till the end of september, only made it to new england dragway twice. Started the year off in april with a bran new fast intake goin on the car and somehow a washer fell down threw the intake port while the manifold was off into cyl. number 3 (rushing the job most likely) didnt see it and started it up and well bashed the piston in real nice..so the car sat from april basically up untill aug1, saving for a new engine to put in it to race at chevy fest which i did end up making and running pretty good. basically got the engine a week b4 and worked late every night. so for a month i was able to drive it sweet! so we go up for a test and tune in sept. run my best time to date, hot lap it then proceed to snap the torque arm and twist the driveshaft in half and has been down since then. its on jack stands now got a new umi chasis mount adj torque arm and new driveshaft loosely in place..but when the torque arm broke it snapped the head off one of the bolts so i gota get it to work so i can drill it out sometime.
