It's alive!!! Finally got this thing to run! Just need to get it to run a bit cooler, it's idling and climbing above 200 degrees fast. That's with the fans on. Anyway at least it runs and it's soon time for a cage cert. and the suspension to be setup. Then it should be ready for some shakedown runs. Gonna run it off the wastegates for now, hopefully that's enough for high 9's and licensing passes. Then we will turn up the boost some and have fun!!!

Thanks Ken!!! Kris is tuning it for me and doing pretty well for not seeing Bigstuff 3 before. We are hoping to start driving it tomorrow night to tune some more....If everything goes well the cage will be certified next week. Then I will get the suspension set up as soon as I can....Maybe just maybe I can make a pass or two in the beginning of July sometime.

Yes the thermostat did the trick. Runs in the 180-200 range. Car feels really good even at 20 lbs. of vacuum. Soon time to put this thing on the dyno to tune for boost......... I gotta tell ya, it feels really good to have a long project like this come to life. To actually have it move under it's own power is priceless.
There is pretty much nothing that was left untouched on this thing. I took this car as a wrecked shell and made it what it is now. The fact that it runs and drives makes me feel as though I accomplished alot. I know there are alot more little things to do, but the hard work is done.

I have to tell you that I'm not sure your all out drag car will even keep up with a big heavy truck I know. LOL

I guess if you could find someone that could tune worth a crap you might have a chance. At least it idles better than my car though.

Yeah I think my tuner might be gay. He's doing a pretty good job so far though. Guess I shouldn't fault his sexual preference.

A little update. Last night we started to get into some boost. Felt really strong at 7psi and even stronger at 11.5 psi until it blew a charge pipe off. These were all 2nd gear pulls to load the turbos better, and to keep the tires planted..... Gotta give 2ktransam (Kris) props. His tune was dead on for boost staying right around the commanded afr.

Cant wait to get this to the dyno to get it dialed in. Right now we aren't really sure if the timing is accurate so we were very conservative. In boost we were only at 10 degrees just in case our initial tune was off by a few degrees. Figured that was safe. Next move is to get the charge pipes bead rolled. Then get this thing aligned, dyno tuned and start some shakedown passes!!!!

too low of timing on a boost car can be as bad as too much timing...

Yeah, we were just doing quick half throttle runs to get it close. We are going to put a timing light on it and then get it on the dyno to get it really dialed in.

What timing would you run at 10psi on this setup. I was going to shoot for around 15-17 degrees since he doesn't have the meth hooked up yet. If we put the meth on it we might be able to go a little higher. We are tuning for pump gas.

PS 11.5psi was by accident. The wastegate lines were to big and they blew off so they didn't open. We had no intention of boosting that high yet.

For 10psi I'd start out at 15 then slowly work your way up, but more then likely you're stay at 15-16 degrees.

yeah but pump gas car with no Meth and probably a higher Static compression ratio than what you ran.

I am only running 18 degrees in mine with meth

We have to put a timing light on next to make sure the timing is correct with my base tune. Though it feels strong I'm sure when we are positive about the timing it will feel even better.....Working on it lately has been a chore because of this heat! Not alot will be done till it cools a bit.

That's what I'm thinking too. I only run 19 degrees in my truck with meth. I have tried 21 before but it didn't pick up enough to leave it there.

thats why I said 15-17 would be a good starting point

static compression means nothing...dynamic compression is what matters...and I had a very interesting cam setup that drove the dynamic way up.
