ALL CAPS SUCKS

I'd like to hear what Cartek has to say. Two sides to every story, and Cartek has an excellent record.

There is always another side to a story, but that being said tell your friend to STOP throwing money at the car and do more research on other shops/options!

If he paid with a credit card I would tell him to file a claim and get a lawyer. I'm a beginner with this stuff and I have done three head swaps, four cam swaps and plenty of turbo swaps on my stuff and I have yet to break anything. I also do my own tuning witch adds fuel to the fire so I call BULLSHIT. Get the car out of there and and start working the legal side until he gets his money back. I feel bad for your friend but he needs to get the car out of there before they rip him off anymore.

ICE78, Cartek might have an excellent record but for what type of build? Im sure people that went in there intending to do a full 20k build got good work, but brining a car in for a simple H/c swap, and then trying to tack on $1,000s more for other parts that the guy simply did not want

I do custom paint and autobody, if i mess up somebodys $10,000 paint job, thats on me and i cant call the customer and tell them they have to buy all the paint again for my mistake

IMO wouldnt a place like cartek have checked the engine out before promising the guy a strong running 8 grand H/c setup

Bottom line is the guy dropped off a perfrectly running and driving car, for a h/c swap and something went wrong. Thats on Cartek, not the owner

I personally know snyper and he eats sleeps and breathes LS motors, he shoulda brought it to him in the first place and saved a **** ton of $$$

Cartek is bad news, and if you had read the past few threads on them you would know that. A guy i used to talk to from Long Island NY spent $25,000 on a built LS7 for his 08 C6Z and ended up turning into 40k. he sued them and only had to pay $10k though lawyer fees included.

I added cartek to my list of shops to avoid years ago..

and also if i was that guy there would be a lot more problems than just money

I guess I'll just say it again, for the amount of money you people are having to pay to "build" a motor... I would just buy a damn LS9, put some exhaust on it, and get a good tune on it, throw it in a 4th gen or C5 and call it good...lol 24k shipped to your door for a complete LS9..... or 30k for a lot of headache and an engine putting down roughly the same hp or less....

I'd get the car out of there and find another shop to do the rest of the work. IMO

these are the steps I would take

1) tell your rich friend to stop being a pu*** and take the car out
2) get a lawyer
3) find a new shop

if the car was bone stock when he took it in for H/C, why not put the thing back the way it was and take it to a dealer and try and get it warrantied? its at least worth a try, worst they can say is no, if they void the warranty oh well, a heads/cam swap would do it anyways and it sounds like hes got the money.

You can have a reputable sponsor build a motor that will wreck a ls9 for $24k

Someone should pm cartek a link to this thread

stupid question... why is the owner of the car not posting this? surely is he can spend 20K on his car to go faster he has a computer and an internet connection...

there are plenty of people here who love to hate, but untill both sides of the story are heard, the smart thing is to reserve judgement.

I do not know the other half of the story, nither do any of you, lets see what it is first.

As far as $2080 for a clutch, it could be a $1500 clutch, you don't know and I don't either.
