Anyone have an LT1 block?
I have two high mileage Lt1 long blocks in my garage both with steel heads. I need these out to make more space. If you want to make the drive to Syracuse,NY, they are all yours for 25.00 a peice. PM me if interested.
thanks guys I was able to find two local guys with bare blocks for $100. I'm still keeping my fingers crossed that I dont need one though. have to wait for the confirmation that my cylinders weren't overbored.
thanks. it was rebuilt less than 2 years ago i have it .040 over . if it turns out cylinders 1 & 7 were truly overbored i'm taking it back to the machine shop to question what happened. id rather have a block done correctly instead of boring to .060, buying new pistons, and having things rebalanced.

Wow that is messed up, but not un heard off. Too bad the average gear head does not even have a basis in machining let alone the tools to check for tolerences.

Verdad Gallardo yeah i took the engine to my mechanic instead of the machine shop that way they wouldn't be able to cover anything up if indeed they messed soemthing up. so my mechanic sent it to one of his guys to check all the tolerances. my mechanic did find that my ring gap on cylinder 7 was huge like and eigth of an inch. also the valves on the heads werent seated properly and were all leaking
well i needed a new block. 1 and 7 were overbored. found a guy with one on craigslist for $100. no wonder i couldn't get the car to run as fast as it should. have to wait for my mechanic to take the new block to get machined and get my old one back.
