Default Paging Phil99TA

Hey, if anyone knows Phil, would you be so kind as to ask him to PM me? I'm the new owner of his old NBM 99 TA and would like to find out some more details about the mods done to the car.

Thanks

I know Phil and his wife well but he's pretty busy with work and kids (they have like 20 kids now I hear LOL ) and stuff so he's not on here too much anymore.
I know a lot about the car though if you had any specific questions that I might be able to answer.

Dude, where've you been LOL ...the Chef bought Phil's car earlier in the year and since sold it. I was so very close to buying it myself at one point as well.
I was quite saddened by it all too.

Thanks for the replies. Well for one, what do the heads flow? Is the cam a TR 224 or a Cartek one? What kind of valve springs? How long has this set-up been together...wondering if it might need new valve springs. Etc...

Thanks

Wow, there's a blast from the past. If you really want to put the original car back together I can put you in touch with the dude who I sold Phil's old rear rims to!

I hadn't heard much from him or Miriah on the boards in years, figured they were out of the game.

FWIW I think the car went 11.5@120 when Phil had it with that H/C setup. Think he had MMS heads on it with a TR 224.

Interesting story about those chrome 16" T/A rims. There were quite a few pairs of those things flying around between LS1.com and LS1Tech.com Eastern board members between 2000 and 2008. I have a set right now that came from Kenny H who at some point had 6 of them, at least two of which at some point came from Phil LOL.
I still have one snow tire/wheel up at Phil's/Miriah's that I need to retrieve before it snows so I'll be seeing them again within the next month or so.

Yes, 11.59@121+ I believe, not bad for NA H/C back in 2001/2002. They are actually ARE heads with that TR224. Pete (Kerminator) had MMS heads on his first H/C set up.

ARE, MMS...same thing! Places that were huge back in the early days and fell off the face of the earth. Still enjoying my APE driveshaft and MTI cam, and only just got rid of my TTS headers, lol.

Hi

So anyone have any further info about Phil's old car or been in touch with him?

So far what I know is that the car has ported ARE 98 heads, a TR 224 cam, Grottys, Cartek clutch, 12 bolt w/4.10s.

I'm trying to find out some head flow numbers possibly. Also on the 11.59 pass was that on slicks and skinnies? Race weight maybe? Anything would help.

Thanks guys!

I was there that day, he had M/T ET Streets on 16x8 F-body wheels and he had borrowed skinnies for a few passes but there is a chance that the 11.59 best was not done on the skinnies. Or if it was on skinnies then the passenger seat was still in during that pass because there were a few different combos tried that day. I know that it wasn't gutted by any means though...A/C, power steering, airbags, rear seats, carpet, stock driver's seat etc all still in the car.
I'll try and refer Phil to this thread, hopefully he'll pipe in soon.

Wow, it's been a while. Nice to see all the familiar names on here

rubrick
I never had any flow #s on the heads, but all the details mentioned are correct. I never had any real weight reduction mods done. I think the lightest I ever saw it weigh in was about 3570.

I can tell you this, it never dynoed that well but made awesome low/midrange power and liked to be shifted at 6200-6400, very low for a car heads/cam car.

Also that 11.59 was done on bald ET streets and I left around 4500 rpm. Phil was having trouble hooking the car and I belive I only made 1 pass in that car. If I had slicks and left around 5500 rpm's I'm sure she would have gone 11.30's.
