I was actually rooting for them yesterday. I'm big Michael Vick fan and despite being a Giants guy, it's hard not to like the Eagles with their aggressive style defense and they are always a formidible opponent. I don't like how much they pass but with Vick it seems to even itself out.
I thought he made a good decisive throw for that last play (interception) in the end zone. I forget who the reciever was but I thought he made a lousy play on the ball, he was bigger than that DB and he could've went over the top if he timed it right. Even so, he coulda just mugged the DB and took the penalty and kept the ball and game alive.
Too bad. I don't think Greenbay is that good. I think they will be exposed next week. I woulda liked to see the Eagles go another week or more.

 

Their defense USED to be good, but now they suck. I heard them say last night their red zone defense was the worst in the league. Losing the great Jim Johnson, and having Brian Dawkins and Buckhalter go to the Broncos has to be a huge part of that. Their defense was always top of the line, it's a shame to see it like this. You just can't replace Jim Johnson.

 

Im a Philly everything fan. Eagles, Flyers, Phillies and even the Sixers, lol. But back on track here....I had them before the season 8-8, and no playoffs. So from that aspect, I am happy with how far they got (division champs and made the playoffs). Now that was with Kolb at the helm. With Vick, I still wouldnt have had them better than 9-7, due to how he was playing last year and not thinking he would have bounced back like he did.

Now with that said, I am a Philly fan, so taht means I want nothing short of a Championship, even if the team isnt good enough to get one. And I do not and its shown, think the Eagles were good enough. Vick masked many holes in the team. Heres just a few in my eyes

Offense:
Andy Reid....Enough said, lol Seriously, you have a guy in Mccoy who outplayed my expectations by a long shot, averaging 5.2 per carry, and he gets 12 carries? Next, Desean,...as good as he is, he is a ghost most of the games besides 2 plays or so a game. I am not knocking him, hes a game changer, but a NO 1. reciever should not be just a two three play a game player. Oline....We have none. Which is the reason why you see Vick limp all the time.

Defense:
Everyone besides Trent Cole and Asante at times is expendable....Patterson is so bad that another teams 2nd stringer woudl out play him hands down. The fact that Asante only plays on the Right side, means half the time the No. 1 reciever would be on Patterson. Which is just a terrible idea. And lastly, Dline. Besides Cole there is no line. When you have one guy, its easy to box him out of the play and not allow him to make a play. No matter how good he is.

Lastly, Coaching.....Reid needs to go. I am sorry, but when ppl say 5 NFC championships, it pisses me off. That was than and this is now. That and we didnt do anything besides NFC Champs. And when you have 12yrs of ''I have to game plan better'' or ''I take full responsibility'' ...wouldnt you think its time for the guy to be cut? I would understand if he was apart of the Pats organization and have 3 superbowls in 12 years, but he doesnt.

So all in all, I honestly believe they need a total revamp on the Oline, and something big on the defense. Starting with the left Corner, and a solitified LB.

 

Eagles, They just arent good enough. They always keep you on the edge...

i freakin picked every game right this weekend except this one. freakin eagles blew it.

 

The one thing the NFL and Quarterbacks as a whole was/is QB's who are willing to take the ball and go for it. Vick has IMO brought that back and reminds me of the old days of Aikman.

The Vikings as a 3rd Stringer that was doing the same thing, Joe Webb, and I like that attitude. But Money plays a big part and QB's do not want to jepordize future earnings for a single regular season game, unless playoff or Super Bowl implications were involved.

I am glad New Orleans is out. Those guys got handed the NFC game when they played the vikes last year and the SB was laughable. Neither teams from last year SB will be there this year and for that I am happy.
