Buy an 18+ and you will be happier in the long run. The 16' that I had was awful for my 4th Gen because I didn't have enough room to distribute the weight correctly on the trailer. After a year I sold that one and bought an 18' open deck which was a lot better towing and sway wise with a 4th Gen on it. Don't settle! Buy bigger! I understand the budget thing also but it happened to me and I spent more money in the long run.

i tow with a gmc sierra ext cab 5.3 L with a-6 trans 4700lbs. a little sway first time i towed but was my fault. car was sitting to far back. now i can run it 75mph in cruise control and its straight and smooth. the do shows all over and will meet you at the show or places in between. picked mine up just outside carlisle,pa. financing call them. i put deposit of $500 and paid for rest when completed and p/u was set up. i think you might need be able to get a 8ft sheet of plywood between the ramps.

bumping this up. got this new job. might be able to afford something nice by the end of the summer. right now i can only spend between $1200-$1500 im looking for an open deck preferably a 18ft but will look at others. let me know whats out there. I need one by the end of august. going to the ltx shootout.

also if anyone is willing to rent there trailer out to me for the weekend I would pay a good price for that. I dont want to sound like a begger but i would go with that option if someone was nice enough to lend a trailer to me for a weekend.

Save your $, and just buy one. You'll be glad you did in the long run.

Keep your eyes open, I see them around all the time for sale.

Open deck all the way..... I tow alot of stuff, from cars, to generators to scrap, open is the most versatile. If you NEED to haul something too narrow or oddly shaped on an open trailer, just lay down some 3/4" plywood sideways. I built mine with a center tube so it works perfectly, but I have seen a 2x4/6/8 screwed to the center of the plywood to lay on the crossmembers, works well.

Open trailers make tie down, and vehicle inspection/service a breeze.

I liked the open deck Bir-mar I had. It was the perfect size. And, it was towable with a 1/2 ton truck with no problems.

My 24 ft enclosed, as nice as it is, isn't getting towed with the car in it and the atv for pit use by a 1/2 ton truck, well not without the truck getting seriously worked.

But, I can use the enclosed as a pit camper, if I go somewhere and stay overnight. Once I put the a/c unit on the roof it will make for a nice way to save on hotel rooms, if you are willing to skip a shower for a day. (And when you're at the track, you're usually dirty 5 minutes after you get there so I figure screw it )

Do that 10 times, and you'll save what 1500 bucks, or more depending on where you are...

If I had to do it again, and had enough space for anything I wanted, I would have bought a 28 or 32 foot enclosed. If I had to do it again and had the same space I have now, I might have looked for a 22 footer with no cabinets in it, and just put the overhead/top cabinets the entire length of the trailer, and the winch on the floor like the one I have now.. that way I could still fit the ATV in the front, and the car... and have the cabinet storage like I do now. Just to save a little space in the driveway.

Understand.. that I bought KP's Continental Cargo that he only had for 6 months and I think he used it like 3 times.... he had about 15 grand in the trailer, and I paid him 6700 plus my Brimar 18 foot open deck.. which I paid 2 grand for when I bought it 3 years earlier. I got my use out of the Brimar, and certainly did really well on the 24 footer. Any cheaper and I'd have thought it was stolen LOL.

I've got an '04 full deck 18' I would consider selling for around $2000 if you're interested. I wouldn't mind upgrading to an aluminum trailer or maybe an enclosed.
I'd also consider renting it out if you could leave me with some form of collateral.

I have a custom made 16' open-deck trailer that I would be willing to sell for about $900..

I added in rails to be able to drop in and out pieces of legit trailer decking (true 2" thick planking) and a custom gate for the back strong enough for a car.

Tows nicely with any kind of load, but without its a bit scary due to the weight of the gate.

Let me know if you're interested.

I've also got a welder so I can do any kind of mods you're looking for.

Plus- Ive been looking to buy ANOTHER enclosed trailer so this flat deck would be a bit obsolete for me =)

Camaro something you sent me a PM..

This is not a trailer for going 40hrs round trip.. thus why I have my eastside retired 24' enclosed rig =)

This is more for going to any local tracks.

You would probably want to look into sway/load/trunion bars no matter what the size trailer, theyre immensely helpful for weight distribution.

No offense but if you are out of a job, whhy are you considering a 20+ hr trip with an f150 towing a sub-300rwhp lt1 to wherever????

Not worth it at all IMHO.

But your money.. and more money to spend when you blow up the f150 15hrs away from home on your way THERE.

Trust me, always budget 2x the amount you think youre gonna spend on a trip like that.. and carry about.. meh 2k cash on you

Judging from your online 'personality' you may be in deeper than you realize.
